David Carson is an American graphic designer known for his innovative magazine design and experimental typography. He was the art director for the magazine Ray Gun and defined the "grunge" aesthetic of the 1990s with his widely imitated style. Born in Texas in 1952, Carson and his family later moved to New York, where he has maintained studios in California and Zurich while traveling the world.
