Stefan Sagmeister is an Austrian graphic designer born in 1962 in Bregenz, Austria. He originally studied engineering but switched to graphic design after working for a magazine. In 1991, he moved to Hong Kong to work for Leo Burnett before returning to New York in 1993 to work for Tibor Kalman. Sagmeister is known for pushing creative boundaries in his work for clients like Lou Reed, The Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith. He has won two Grammy Awards for his album packaging designs. Sagmeister's motto is "Design that needed guts from the creator and still carries the ghost of these guts in the final execution."
