Early LifeBorn in 1962 in Bregenz, AustriaEarly life:  Sagmeister studied engineering after high school, but switched to graphic design after working on illustrations and lay-outs for Alphorn, a left-wing magazine. He was only 15 at this stage.At 19, Sagmeister moved to Vienna hoping to study graphics at the city’s prestigious University of Applied Arts.
Early LifeIn 1991, Sagmeister moves to Hong Kong to work with Leo Burnett’s design group.1993 saw him move back to New York where he began work for TiborKalman’sM&Co. After a few months, Kalman announces that he’s shutting down the studio and moving to Rome. This was when Sagmeister decided to set up on his own.He wanted to design music graphics, but only for music he liked.
TypographyBroken up into 5 parts Trying/to look/good/limits/my life and displayed in sequence as typographic billboards.Sagmeister incorporates a lot of typography into his work.

Made You Look“Made you look” is a collection of all Sagmeisters work up to it’s publication.The book is presented in a red slip casePeter Hall wrote the text in this book, the book also contains handwritten excerpts from Sagmeister.
“The Things I Have Learned In My Life So Far”In his book “The things I have learned in my life so far” he combines, Art, Design, Diary and Psychology.This book was published in Spring 2008 by Abrams featuring 15 different covers and 256 pages.
AIGAThis poster was designed for the AIGA Detroit lecture.   He tried to visualize the pain that seems to accompany most of his design projects.His intern cut the words into his body, according to Sagmeister it hurt really bad.
AIGAThis poster was used to promote sagmeisters lecture in Colorado in 2008.It was also used to promote his book “The things I’ve learned so far in my life”.

LEVI’SWhen asked to design a poster for levi’s 501 jeans, Sagmeister deconstructed the jeans down to individual threads and buttons.He completed the poster by adding a simple sentence, “This is a pair of Levi’s, sewed with the strongest thread’’
LEVI’SThe poster is printed with special printing techniques: The background is a dark silver and the button graphics are foil stamped with an eye catching and extravagant rainbow foil
