Lets create a dashboard
Let's design a dashboard for a cycling app since I have been
cycling. It would cover the following
1. Distance travels
2. Top speed achieved
3. Calories burnt

he panel facing the driver of a vehicle or the pilot of an aircraft,
containing instruments and controls.

4. Trends
In the past times dashboards were only used to analyse
past or historical data, with our recednt improvements in
mathematics and understanding data much better, we are now
able to even show predictive data on dashboards.

6. Kinds of Dashboards
There are mainly 2 kinds
Interactive Dashboard - These that allow you to change certain
values to get some results, they are normally used for real-time
factories etc where changes and predictions are made on a
real-time bases
Non-Interactive Dashboard - These are normally showing
historical data, which basically falls in the most of the dashboards
that give you information on interactions.

12. Data-ink Ratio

This guy did not like how we drew graphs on paper, so went
and made a perfect ratio that helps us do the same.
Its simple, what it says that your graph on paper consist of 3
things paper, data-ink and non-data-ink
Data-ink is all the informations that gives life to the graph
Non-data ink is all the infromation that helps define the graph
like legends.

So, if you divide the
data-ink with the total
amount of ink used on
the paper, you will get
a ratio, if the ratio is
higher then the graph
is more prettier.

Thinking for a Dashboard
• Dashboards must be designed after all the pages in the
app are completed, this helps us to understand all the data
points
• Gather all the data-points that you find are useful, this can
be done in a group for better reach
• Remember the decision you want the user wants to take, this
comes directly to you from the app vision
• Always keep a consolidated view, this helps less misdirection
