Problem Solving
In our day-to-day work, we are constantly working to solve problems, either alone or in
collaboration with others. The qualities we need to do this are sometimes defined in terms of judgment
or practical wisdom, the skills in terms of problem solving and decision making.
In general, problem is defined as a situation where “something has gone wrong.” In this case,
problem solving is a process to move from current state to desired state. Problems also include
situations where nothing has gone wrong yet, but where there is reason to believe that if some
action is not taken, something may go wrong in the future. In this scenario problem solving is more of
anticipation and avoiding problems that may arise. Unless anticipated ahead of time, a “something may
go wrong” problem can easily become
a “something has gone wrong”
problem.
Problem solving calls for two critical
skills; ability to think out-of-the box and
ability to analyze and organize
facts/data in a meaningful way.
When something is being done for the
first time, out of the box thinking plays
a vital role, however in routine
engineering and managerial process it’s all data analysis and interpretation.
Data Analysis
Data analysis is the lifeline of any business. No business can survive without analyzing available data.
Whether one wants to arrive at some marketing decisions or fine-tune new product launch strategy or
compute process capability or predicate future trends or breakdown a big issue into smaller but
manageable issues; data analysis is the key to all the problems. A good data analysis eliminates human
bias, helps in acquiring meaningful insight based on samples and predicting the future outcomes.

operation, Quality, Maintenance, and Sales and Marketing, Distribution & Supply chain, Finance and HR.

Generating Business Value thro’ Integrating Data Analysis into planning and decision making

  • 1. Generating Business Value From Data Analysis Are your employees collecting the right data? Are they competent in analyzing and presenting data? Are you generating business value from the data analysis? If the answer to any of the above question is “No”, you are wasting your efforts in collecting, analyzing and presenting data. We can corroborate with you to put the things on right path. Problem Solving In our day-to-day work, we are constantly working to solve problems, either alone or in collaboration with others. The qualities we need to do this are sometimes defined in terms of judgment or practical wisdom, the skills in terms of problem solving and decision making. In general, problem is defined as a situation where “something has gone wrong.” In this case, problem solving is a process to move from current state to desired state. Problems also include situations where nothing has gone wrong yet, but where there is reason to believe that if some action is not taken, something may go wrong in the future. In this scenario problem solving is more of anticipation and avoiding problems that may arise. Unless anticipated ahead of time, a “something may go wrong” problem can easily become a “something has gone wrong” problem. Problem solving calls for two critical skills; ability to think out-of-the box and ability to analyze and organize facts/data in a meaningful way. When something is being done for the first time, out of the box thinking plays a vital role, however in routine engineering and managerial process it’s all data analysis and interpretation. Data Analysis Data analysis is the lifeline of any business. No business can survive without analyzing available data. Whether one wants to arrive at some marketing decisions or fine-tune new product launch strategy or compute process capability or predicate future trends or breakdown a big issue into smaller but manageable issues; data analysis is the key to all the problems. A good data analysis eliminates human bias, helps in acquiring meaningful insight based on samples and predicting the future outcomes.
