Advertising 2.0: Social Media Marketing in a Web 2.0 World
Advertising is the quickest way to give your business or commercial company
recognition. Effective advertising can help businesses grow a great deal over a short
period of time. Advertising 2.0 covered many areas of advertising that are extremely
important and to some, dyer to the success of a company. This book was most appealing
because it has to deal with current use of social media and advertising.
One of the subjects covered in the book was “Investments of Online Advertising.”
This particular area caught my interest because social media already has whopping
impact on today’s society; Even the most influential people have some type of social
media account. This gives us (the consumers) a quicker understanding of the events going
around us.
Online advertising began in the 1990’s and from this point on; this would become
the most common forum to advertise from. One of the issues that occurred during the
establishment of online advertising was “growth in Internet penetration, domestic and
abroad, changes in consumer media consumption, and challenges associated with
advertising via other media.” This helped make for a rich landscape for advertisers as
evidenced by the shift in advertising expenditures across media types.
One thing I would like to be a little bit more informed about is “social-media
impact balancing metrics and insight for advertising success.” This is key information to
have to avoid negative results when using social media as a outlet for advertising abroad
in various different countries.
This book has plenty of useful information to help guide an advertising campaign
especially when using social media. I would recommend that this book be used in every
advertising class since it has the do’s and don’ts of social media advertising
