NEW EUROPEAN METHODOLOGY FOR IMPROVING CURRICULA IN VET IS BEING DEVELOPED IN
SWEDEN
New gap-oriented European methodology for improving curricula in VET is being developed by
Folkuniversitetet within PR-ERF project, co-funded by European Commission.
‘PR-ERF’ stands for ‘Practical Methodology for Acquiring Key
Competences of EU Reference Framework through Continuous
VET’. The project aims to adapt the European Reference
Framework for Key competences to continiuos VET. The results
will allow to facilitate students` personal fulfillment, development,
inclusion and employment.
The main focus of the project team now is development of eight new curriculum modules for eight
ERF competences. The modules will consists of European Reference Framework’s Key Competences,
developed as a package of Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes that learners need to acquire through
Continuous VET. Based on these modules the smart holistic methodology will be able to spot the
gaps in any curricula of VET-providers.
“Our curriculum modules will include a set of skills, knowledge and attitudes that learners of VET-
programmes will need in order to be competitive in today’s constantly changing labour market. We
aspire our methodology to become widely used by VET-providers all over Europe”, - says Yevgeniya
Averhed, the project manager of PR-ERF and deputy director of the Department for International
Cooperation of Folkuniversitetet.
Partnership intends to develop the methodology together with end-users in order to ensure its
relevance and sustainability. The expert groups will consist of CVET teachers, decision-makers of
CVET organisations, CVET learners, employers, Public Employment Offices, National / regional
authorities for VET. The curricula and all the new modules will be developed in English and further
translated to the languages of the partner organizations, namely Dutch, Spanish, Greek and Swedish.
