2. CONSPIRACY THRILLER
This film will be a conspiracy thriller. When we looked into
conspiracy thrillers similar to what we are planning to make, we
thought of the Da Vinci Code.
3. TARGET AUDIENCE
Given that this should be a similar film to the Da Vinci Code, it is a
fair assumption to say that we should attract a similar audience, with
the exception that the Da Vinci Code also attracts some people
because of their interests, or because they’ve read the book. We will
have neither of these advantages.
5. PROFESSOR ALBERT
GILBEY
The person who deciphers the government conspiracy from newspaper messages
and, horrified by the government scheme he has uncovered, commits suicide while
attempting to take the information he uncovered with him. He, however, fails to
completely destroy the information and his work is found by the protagonist.
He is an extremely intelligent former uni teacher, who is dismissed for his radical
theories
An academic genius who got his degree at only 20 and then went on to his job at a
uni until he was dismissed.
The audience will not relate to this character much
6. MICHAEL TYLER
The protagonist of the story, whom the audience will relate to.
The 18 year old cousin of the professor who always had to live in
his shadow.
Very much an average 18 year old who stumbles across the
surviving part of his cousin’s research and is then forced into a world
in which he has to fight to survive and to defeat the government
scheme.
7. SYNOPSIS
Professor Albert Gilbey discovers the plot through hidden messages in newspaper headlines. It is a government plot to
recolonise America by assassinating the President and reclaiming the country as part of the Second British Empire.
After uncovering this plot he, under the impression that it is unstoppable, destroys the information and takes his own life
to prevent anyone else from learning about the secret plot and out of fear of the war that this will most likely cause.
The information is found on a burnt piece of paper by Michael Tyler when looking through his cousin’s house and
happens to see it in the fireplace.
Shortly afterwards, Michael looks online for any trace of the plot or anyone who has stumbled across something similar.
He finds the word ‘Castlefield’ before his computer switches off and he is attacked by government agents.
After finding the like minded individuals at Castlefield, he finds himself involved in the plot to foil the government
scheme.
Eventually, the government’s plan is foiled, but the ending is left ambigious with a shot of a fireplace indicating he has
missed something on his first look.
Editor's Notes
A film we decided was quite similar to ours, a conspiracy Thriller when someone discovers the truth about an organisation and fights to uncover the truth further is the Da Vinci Code.Pearl and Dean looked at the Da Vinci Code and decided it was similar to The FirmThe audience of The Firm was rather evenly split between male female (53% male, 47% female), indicating the same is the case with the Da Vinci Code. This gives us a hint that a conspiracy Thriller similar to the one we will make is likely to be equally popular with males and females. It is also worth noting that the majority of the people watching this film are likely to be from 15 – 24.
