4. Parameters Monitoring Methods
• Daily Monitoring-
a. Daily monitoring helps in ensuring healthiness of electrical system by physical
verification.
b. Collected data analysis & trending of data gives idea regarding healthiness of
running equipment's & helps in analysis of equipment's failures
• Condition Based Monitoring-
a. CBM abbreviated as Condition Based Monitoring.
b. Its a strategy in which actual condition of the asset is monitored.
c. It helps to avoid major breakdown and failure.
d. It helps to develop a better maintenance schedule.
e. It helps to improve our maintenance practices as per system requirement.
f. CBM is proven to be decision making tool.
g. It helps to carryout maintenance with proper planning and resource
management.
h. Equipment operational parameter trends can be drawn based upon CBM
observations.

5. Monitoring Data Acquisition- Conventional Method
• Conventional Method of noting
these monitored data was carrying
the register to site and noting down
the parameters.
• Healthiness of equipment was track
by manually entering data into the
system and then plotting the graph
and analysis.
• Further analysis is done based
upon entered parameters & may be
at some instance data entry will be
done only after fault for reverse
analysis.

6. Monitoring Data Acquisition- Android Application
• Why such Application was needed?
a. Difficulty in manually entering the bulk data collected during
monitoring and again checking the correctness of data enetered.
b. Drive such as Digitization and reducing the paper consumption.
c. Data Analysis.
d. Data Storage and easy retrieval of past data.
e. Time management.
Due to above all reason it was decided to develop the APP as of which
equipment monitoring would be done which would help in data storage and also
develop the software for retrieval of data too.

7. APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
For APP, APML Tiroda Switchyard Equipments were divided into four parts
(400kV Switchyard, 765kV Switchyard, Transformer Yard & Others)
Following open source software were used to develop the android application.
• Android Studio
• MySQL Server
• NetBeans Java

11. Data Retrieval Software
The basic features of the Data Retrieval Software are as follows
• It allows easy access to maintenance parameters for analysis. Daily and Monthly
Reports can be generated and exported as an excel file on click of a button.
• It allows users to filter data on the basis of parameters and date, i.e., start date
and end date.
• A Display Table has been provided in the software for quick viewing of
parameters

Usage of Pen and Paper Single button click to store data.
Manpower required to eneter data
from register to excel in sytem
Data can be easily retrieved in excel
and can be shared
Hard to share data with people Trending mapping and comparing
data of equipment can be done
easily.
Tedious job to maintain data in
register
Getting customized data from as in
desired format
15. Conclusion.
Benefits of Daily Monitoring & Condition based app are..
• Free of cost. Prepared by BITS Pilani students with Open Source
Software.
• Secured. Password Protected. Secured intranet WIFI network.
• No maintenance cost. No internet connection required.
• Data directly recorded in APP & can be retrieved as & when
required in excel.
• Customize generation of report.
• Easy to sort, trend & Analyze data.
• Minimize human error.
• Saving in manpower.
