3. Essay Revisions:
Essay revisions are due before Monday, March 19th at 6 AM. (That’s in the
morning.)
You may only submit one revision: essay #1 or #2.
If you did not submit one of the first two essays before the initial essay due
date, you may submit that one essay as your revision.
If you want to see me to discuss your revision, please make an appointment.
Before you come to talk to me, please read the comments and suggestions that I wrote on your
essay when I graded it. Have your questions ready.
There is no grade penalty or averaging or other method of determining a
revision grade. I will grade the essay like it is a new submission and
substitute your new, better grade for the lower grade you initially received.
I do not comment on revisions.
I do not accept late revisions.
4. Are you reading my margin comments?
In addition to the rubric that I
attach to your essay in Canvas, I
also make margin comments.
I don’t think these show up on
your phone, but it is DEFINITELY in
your best interests to be reading
them. (Especially for the revision.)
5. Citing summarized (but not quoted) material.
Any time you include
information in your essay
that you had to look up
elsewhere or that you
summarized in your own
words from another source,
you still need to cite that
source.
This is true even if you’re
not quoting directly.
This is really key for your
Paper 2 revision. You must
cite all the sources you use
to provide examples or
explanations for your
concept—even if one of
them is Wikipedia.
Example from your text:
The most obvious way to become a werewolf is, of course, to be bitten. However,
sometimes even contact with a wolf is sufficient (“Werewolves”).
This example would point to the following entry on your Works Cited:
Works Cited
“Werewolves.” Monsterpedia, http://monsterpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Werewolves.
Accessed 14 Mar 2018.
6. Directions: Find three sources from three of the four source types
listed below. For each source, you need a works cited entry. Compile
these to make a works cited page. You must post an electronic copy
of the works cited page on the HW post before you leave (post 22) to
earn library participation points.
A book or an e-book on your topic
An academic encyclopedia reference important to your topic
An academic, peer-reviewed journal article on your topic
A popular newspaper or newsmagazine article on your topic

What should you look for?
Think about what info/answers you need for your essay.
Do you need statistics? Do you need models that have
worked elsewhere? Do you need examples?
