This document summarizes a study that investigated using recycled rubber from tires to produce concrete with improved thermal insulation properties. The study used two types of rubber aggregates - rubber blocks cut from tires and shredded rubber. Concrete mixtures were prepared with 0%, 10%, and 20% replacement of mineral aggregates with each type of rubber aggregate. Samples were tested for compressive strength, splitting strength, and thermal conductivity. Thermal testing used a insulated chamber to measure temperature changes in concrete slabs with and without rubber aggregates. Results showed that adding more rubber decreased concrete strength but improved its insulating properties, making it suitable for some structural and non-structural applications to aid energy conservation in buildings.
