CommonWealth Kitchen provides value-added food processing services by taking in locally harvested raw ingredients from producers, processing them using approved recipes, packaging the finished products in jars or tubs with custom labels, and returning them so producers can sell or distribute the value-added products. As an example, they process 60 pounds of a producer's zucchini into 120 jars of pickled zucchini using the producer's label, charging $5.25 per jar to cover costs while allowing the producer to net $5.50 per pound after selling each jar for $8.

• You pay us @ $5.25/each to cover the cost of labor, other ingredients, jar, and
label.
• You sell each finished jar for @ $8- which should net you @ $330 for 60 lbs. of
zucchini- or $5.50/lb.
