 Head of Research and Development (Senior General Manager) – From June
2016 – EID Parry (India) Limite d – for 9 Sugar mills (5 in Tamil Nadu &
Pondiche rry, 3 in Karnataka and 1 in Andhra Pradesh, India).
The key focus areas being evaluation and identification of locally adapted sugarcane varieties
with improved yield and quality as well as resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
Development of package of practices for higher cane sugar production, development of low cost
technologies for sugarcane production, intensifying and extending the networking facility and
information generation for transfer of technology to the farmers and sugar mills there by increasing
the profitability to the farmers.
Long term strategic plans evolved based on the diverse needs based on which the following
activities are carried out with close monitoring of the activities by the Top management.
Farmer Acceptance Selection which is a participatory approach to selection and technology
transfer for new sugarcane varieties before introducing new varieties is followed where the farmers
are invited and their views included in varietal selection.
Quality seedcane production : Determines the performance of the crop which plays an important
role in ensuring higher cane yield and sustaining varietal vigour to increase on farm production
and productivity of cane. Micro propagation facilities as an integral component of our sugar mills
and a unique 3 tier nursery programme to ensure 100 % clean seed nursery programme to
cater to the seed requirements of the farmer.
Integrated disease and pest management.
Technology transfer, training and education: To disseminate generated information and
technology are done through regular trainings to the farmers on improved land preparation
methods and implements, Soil health improvement and soil test based nutrient management, water
management, integrated pest and disease management using bio control agents thereby enriching
the nature for sustained sugarcane cultivation.
Soil testing and mapping : Implemented at all the units for the soil test based nutrient
management and mapping of soils has been initiated to know the nutrient status and soil types of
the mill command area. This helps in reduced fertilizer application, reduction in GHG emissions
and savings to the farmers. Soil moisture indicator use has been implemented in Tamil Nadu mills
for measuring the moisture content for irrigation for water conservation which is the need of the
day.
New Entrepreneur development : Activities are taken up for production of single bud seedlings,
bio control agents production at all the units by identifying the entrepreneurs and provided training,
technical guidance and startup cultures for production and supply.
Sustainability Projects: With different partners in imparting sustainable agriculture in Sugarcane
cultivation to help in sustainable water management in the command area and working with the
cane farmers and other in Improved water practices to bring substantial benefits to the freshwater
ecosystems while also making good business. Managing green house gas emission for more
efficient cane production system with enhanced carbon sequestration, efficient use of inputs and
better crop residue management.
Farmer Support Programme, a collaborative Project with SOLIDARIDAD/IFC for capacity
building of farmers.
Financial literacy programme : For farmers with case studies for comparison of cost of
cultivation.
Mobile Village Theatre Program : organized for showing Documentary film crop calendar based
sugarcane production and mechanization at farmer's door step.
Bonsucro Certification : Coordinated with EIDP’s 3 mills – Pugalur, Nellikuppam and Haliyal
mills the first 3 mills in Asia to become Bonsucro certified for sustainable sugarcane cultivation.
Collaborative project on Water and Carbon Foot printing in sugarcane with WWF Rabo
Bank is ongoing to develop a DST tool for sustainable water management in Sugarcane production.
Bench marking trials on drip irrigation in sugarcane cultivation : Conducted for improvement
of water use efficiency and conservation of water in Sugarcane Production in collaboration with
Hindustan Unilever Foundation.

CAREER PATH  Head of Research and Development (Senior General Manager) – From June 2016 – EID Parry (India) Limite d – for 9 Sugar mills (5 in Tamil Nadu & Pondiche rry, 3 in Karnataka and 1 in Andhra Pradesh, India). The key focus areas being evaluation and identification of locally adapted sugarcane varieties with improved yield and quality as well as resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Development of package of practices for higher cane sugar production, development of low cost technologies for sugarcane production, intensifying and extending the networking facility and information generation for transfer of technology to the farmers and sugar mills there by increasing the profitability to the farmers. Long term strategic plans evolved based on the diverse needs based on which the following activities are carried out with close monitoring of the activities by the Top management. Farmer Acceptance Selection which is a participatory approach to selection and technology transfer for new sugarcane varieties before introducing new varieties is followed where the farmers are invited and their views included in varietal selection. Quality seedcane production : Determines the performance of the crop which plays an important role in ensuring higher cane yield and sustaining varietal vigour to increase on farm production and productivity of cane. Micro propagation facilities as an integral component of our sugar mills and a unique 3 tier nursery programme to ensure 100 % clean seed nursery programme to cater to the seed requirements of the farmer. Integrated disease and pest management. Technology transfer, training and education: To disseminate generated information and technology are done through regular trainings to the farmers on improved land preparation methods and implements, Soil health improvement and soil test based nutrient management, water management, integrated pest and disease management using bio control agents thereby enriching the nature for sustained sugarcane cultivation. Soil testing and mapping : Implemented at all the units for the soil test based nutrient management and mapping of soils has been initiated to know the nutrient status and soil types of the mill command area. This helps in reduced fertilizer application, reduction in GHG emissions and savings to the farmers. Soil moisture indicator use has been implemented in Tamil Nadu mills for measuring the moisture content for irrigation for water conservation which is the need of the day. New Entrepreneur development : Activities are taken up for production of single bud seedlings, bio control agents production at all the units by identifying the entrepreneurs and provided training, technical guidance and startup cultures for production and supply.

Sustainability Projects: With different partners in imparting sustainable agriculture in Sugarcane cultivation to help in sustainable water management in the command area and working with the cane farmers and other in Improved water practices to bring substantial benefits to the freshwater ecosystems while also making good business. Managing green house gas emission for more efficient cane production system with enhanced carbon sequestration, efficient use of inputs and better crop residue management. Farmer Support Programme, a collaborative Project with SOLIDARIDAD/IFC for capacity building of farmers. Financial literacy programme : For farmers with case studies for comparison of cost of cultivation. Mobile Village Theatre Program : organized for showing Documentary film crop calendar based sugarcane production and mechanization at farmer's door step. Bonsucro Certification : Coordinated with EIDP’s 3 mills – Pugalur, Nellikuppam and Haliyal mills the first 3 mills in Asia to become Bonsucro certified for sustainable sugarcane cultivation. Collaborative project on Water and Carbon Foot printing in sugarcane with WWF Rabo Bank is ongoing to develop a DST tool for sustainable water management in Sugarcane production. Bench marking trials on drip irrigation in sugarcane cultivation : Conducted for improvement of water use efficiency and conservation of water in Sugarcane Production in collaboration with Hindustan Unilever Foundation.  General Manager – Quality Assurance – From June 2014 to June 2016 – EID Parry (India) Limited, Nellikuppam,Tamil Nadu,India.
