WORK EXPERIENCE
Summary
Over a 20-year career, I have had only 3 employers:
1. Sechaba Protection Services
- One of the largest security services companies in the Western Cape with
a workforce of over 1000 employees. The company provides security
services to national and local government, parastatals and corporates.
- In my role as HR and Employee Relations Manager, I worked in a
contentious environment featuring aggressive trade unions, industry
strikes and frequent employee disputes and disciplinary issues and CCMA
hearings. Despite these challenging conditions, I maintained a “people
first” approach to promote sound industrial relations and keep my
employer on the front foot in a highly people centric business.
2. Sabre Trident Security Service
- A medium sized security services business with a workforce of over 300
employees. The company provided security services to clients in the retail
sector including blue chip clients like Woolworths.
3. - My role as line manager focused on managing the day to day performance
of a team of more than 50 employees working in an upmarket retail
environment. This experience strengthened my performance management
skills in an environment demanding operational excellence.
3. Green Tissue
- A medium sized manufacturer of Fast Moving Consumer Goods with a
workforce of over 200. The company manufactures and supplies a range
of tissue products (toilet rolls, facial tissues, roller towels, serviettes etc.)
to major clients including Shoprite, Pick ‘n Pay, Massmart & Clicks
amongst others.
- I have overall responsibility for the HR and Employee Relations function of
the company and maintain a hands on approach to ensure sound
employee relations in a fast paced business environment. My focus areas
include proactively managing labour relations, minimizing workplace
conflict and optimizing employee commitment and productivity.
