Initially managing several vehicle leasing projects, covering development, implementation and pre-sales.
Subsequently filling team gaps by taking on business analysis and testing roles covering HGV leasing.

Development Director
Initially responsible for development work on the core DRIVE software product. Subsequently responsible for all
aspects of the SDLC from technical roadmap through to client support; grew the division to 30 staff.
Achievements:
 Built effective Testing, Support, PMO and Product Owner functions from scratch, mentoring staff
 Created the first Management Information reports and agreed KPIs for the department
 Improved overall project quality through a range of measures; standardised estimation methods, process
standards, document templates, staff education on unambiguous requirements, etc., etc.. As a result,
reduced average overrun on fixed price work from ~100% to <10%
 Controlled a delivery stream of enhancements through a one year development plan for a major client to
achieve their Go Live. No failed developments out of the 50+ work packages within the programme
 Implemented a series of quality initiatives, including Lean IT, use of Kanban boards etc.
 Initiated a programme of investment in new software tools:
o Implemented requirements and test management through HP Quality Centre
o Implemented automated regression testing through using HP QTP
o Ran the selection process for a Document Management system
o Managed the selection process for a CASE tool
 Successfully passed on-site technical due-diligence investigations by 2 major client prospects

MAERSK LINES IT, Copenhagen March 2011 – December 2011
Development Project Manager – Contract role
Managing the IT component of several Workflow and Business Rules projects (Oracle BPM & IBM Jrules); the
first ones aiming to deliver in a drastically new organisational and technical environment within Maersk, at the
same time as adopting Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Enterprise Layer Data Modelling.
Achievements:
 Taking first Jrules project into integration testing
Background: Maersk is the biggest shipping line in the world, with large and complex IT requirements to match

Built this event into the largest of its kind in the UK. Also enhanced Rapid Development skills and gained formal
qualifications as an AGILE ScrumMaster and PRINCE2 Practitioner.

BARCLAYS WEALTH, Canary Wharf January 2008 – September 2008
Programme Development Manager – Contract role
Managing ongoing projects to deliver enhancements to a mission critical in-house Payments workflow and
imaging product. This was a complex AGILE development environment that used the Tibco iProcess BPM tool
supplemented by Java enhancements. Managing a team of 13 staff and budget of £1.3M.
Achievements:
 Identified and took steps to correct key errors in early implementation of AGILE methodologies
 Implemented first documented agreement on project functional scope and enforced formal change process
 Developed first meaningful project budgets and kept on track against them
CERNER Ltd, Paddington & Slough August 2006 – January 2008
Programme Release Manager – Southern Cluster
Responsible for controlling delivery pipeline for all software releases into the Southern Programme, running at
300 releases per annum across 25 subsystems. Coordinating deliveries from UK & US based teams and liaising
with the receiving customer teams. Ran the joint release control board for all software deliveries between Cerner,
Fujitsu & the NHS.
Background: Cerner, the world’s largest healthcare software house, was providing its Millennium software to be
used in all hospitals in London and the South as part of the NHS Connecting for Health programme.
Achievements:
 Maintained and strengthened existing processes whilst managing the transition of deliveries from new
products to error corrections and enhancements
 Instigated a regular delivery structure for Cerner software into the NHS Southern Cluster, with monthly
maintenance releases, a visible pipeline and documented exception handling.
GE HEALTHCARE Integrated IT Solutions (formerly IDX Systems UK), Euston. 2004 - 2006
Development Programme Manager, Patient Administration Systems (PAS).
Operated as project recovery specialist, working with project managers to turn around 4 development streams in
turn. Subsequently responsible for all aspects of the design, development and delivery into client testing of the
Patient Administration System (PAS) modules which make up the largest functional area of Carecast.
Background: This healthcare software house was providing the Carecast system to be used in London as part
of the NHS Connecting for Health programme.
Achievements:
 Bringing both initial modules back into the standard process flow. Handling a backlog of critical issues
previously demanding board level involvement. ‘Rescued’ several other problem projects.
 Delivery of a number of critical PAS developments within extremely tight deadlines by making changes to
the development lifecycle models whilst maintaining key controls.
Moved to Cerner Ltd when GE withdrew from the Connecting for Health programme
INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT 2003 -2004
 Central European bank. Evaluation of replacement Customer Lending software packages
 Haston International Ltd. Consultancy for a due diligence project on a major software house
 British Orienteering Federation. Project managed series of World Cup races held in the UK
 British Army. Led a civilian team developing and delivering training courses for the Army
MISYS INTERNATIONAL BANKING SYSTEMS, Wimbledon (Misys IBS) 2000 - 2003
Product Manager, Lending & Retail Unit.
Responsible for all aspects of the ongoing development, release, rollout, upgrade and support for these two key
business streams of the Midas banking package, from business case through to worldwide rollout. Running a
multi-disciplinary team of 18 UK staff and 20+ in the Philippines. Supervision of project managers running
multiple projects in parallel. Covered the Customer Lending, (front office) Loan Manager, Collateralised Lending
and Retail modules installed at 400+ client sites.
Achievements:
 Achieved major improvements in the overall quality of the software by a process of evaluation of commercial
drivers, selective rework and targeted error correction. Increased the rate of installation and upgrade of
systems with the Customer Lending module from zero to 5 a month worldwide
 Coordinated the development of a major new Collateralised Lending module introducing the first web based
front end to the product line. This 12 man-year project utilised 7 teams based in 3 different countries.
Coordinated complex n-tier architecture design with multiple project phases
 Delivery on time and budget of a string of new revenue earning features for both business streams.
 Developed a new parameterisation system for Midas to eliminate low-level customisation of the product,
reducing implementation times and improving customer satisfaction.
 Introduced new project lifecycle models where beneficial, e.g Spiral and Sashimi
 Handled high profile clients, usually visiting them onsite to resolve issues and build rapport

SYSTEM ACCESS (Europe) Limited, London 1999 - 2000
European Support Services Manager. Recruited to create a European support operation from scratch for
the Symbols banking package for this Singapore based software house.
Achievements:
 Recruited staff and built European team to provide pre- and post-sales support for Symbols
 Set up first dedicated helpdesk operation anywhere in System Access
 Drafted maintenance contracts and sold the concept to a sceptical customer base
Approached to rejoin Misys in a new role.
MISYS IBS (Known at the time as MIDAS-KAPITI INT’L LTD), Slough & Wimbledon 1993 - 1999
Core Development & Release Manager, Midas Product Centre. Promoted to run this department with
responsibility for the integration and release of all new and amended software in the Midas product range.
Also managed all core infrastructure development work. Retained the responsibilities of Rollout Manager.
Full management responsibility for a team of 17 business analysts and technicians.
Achievements:
 Directed the release and upgrade strategy for the Midas product range of 10 million lines of code,
covering multiple levels and upgrade paths in support of 700 client sites worldwide. Rationalised the
incorporation process to achieve a 30% reduction in team workload. Implemented a release structure
that ensured significant new products were available for sale and general release each financial year
 Received company award in recognition of successfully coordinating the development, integration and
rollout of 27 mission critical EMU enhancements across multiple release levels of Midas
 Directed the development of Midas implementation and upgrade tools
 Raised internal awareness and demand for forthcoming Midas product releases by introducing a product
newsletter, launching an Intranet site and making personal visits to branches world wide
Rollout Manager, Midas Product Centre. Responsible for the rollout of all new products within the Midas
product range to 30+ branches worldwide. Co-ordinated all alpha and beta sites for new Midas products,
preparing and agreeing SLAs with clients and branches. Management of a team of 7 business analysts.
Achievements:
 Personally developed and presented training on new Midas releases to company branches worldwide
 Managed the successful rollout of a stream of new Midas products
 Increased the success of alpha and beta site implementations by introducing formal Service Level
Agreements, providing priority support and maintaining focussed project management
Development Manager, Equation Funded Development, Responsible for all custom development to the
Equation banking system.
Achievements:
 Ensured all committed development and cost targets were met whilst rebuilding group from scratch.
 Introduced modern working procedures, e.g. flexible team structures, beta site management
Senior Project Manager. Managed multiple custom development projects on the Equation system.

Manager, Central Product Support
Directed the central correction of all errors in all the Midas system. Plus the integration of all fixes, product
enhancements and new modules into the core. Grew the department from 25 to 70 staff in two years. Co-
managed the successful start-up of an offshore support centre of 40 staff in the Philippines.
Manager, Regional Development
Responsible for up to 20 staff in multiple development teams. Pioneered the use of outsourced development
within the company and the introduction of project management tools.

Worked on a wide range of development, installation and support projects at sites throughout Europe.
