WORKING EXPERIENCE:
1. January 2011 – Date : Process Engineer, Volta Aluminuim Company Ltd (VALCO)
Process Engineering Duties:
Manage (Plan, Organize, Lead, and Control) the Carbon Process Control Team to maximize
productivity and cost effectiveness consistent with VALCO’s Vision
Advise Technical Director and Carbon Plant Manager and staff on Carbon quality issues.
Ensuring that all processes and raw materials input for the production of anode for the electrolytic
process at VALCO meet the right specification.
Review vendor’s analysis for raw materials and design/carry out experiments to validate analysis
Plan, design and implement a process capability studies per customer specification for the
manufacture of anodes for export.
Carry out optimization test to determine the optimum quantities of raw material for green anode
production.
Ensure that product quality tests are carried out regularly to assure that anodes produced by the
Carbon Plant in VALCO are of the right quality
Carry out steps/ projects/processes to correct product and system non-conformances
Provide statistical process data on various quality parameters
Carry out cost saving projects to maximize production whilst not compromising on product
quality and safety
Ensure that testing equipments and scales are regularly calibrated to assure their efficiency
Anticipate problems and provide early warning system to prevent major upsets.
Safety Coordinator Duties:
Ensure that employees in the Technical Department comply with all VALCO safety rules and
regulations.
Conduct and coordinate safety audits in the Technical Department
Ensure that all occupational incidents/accidents are reported and assist in the investigation process.
Follow-up to ensure all corrective measures for incidents/accidents are duly implemented.
Ensure that effective housekeeping and hazard survey is performed in the Technical Department
and identified issues duly worked upon.
Ensure that Job Safe Practice procedures are constantly reviewed, updated and followed when
performing all task
Ensure that employees perform behavioral safety audits and concerns are duly addressed
Participate in the VALCO Plant wide Safety audits
Represent the Technical Department at all Plant Safety Coordinators meeting.
2. January 2008 – January 2011: Production Engineer (Foundry & Materials), GRATIS
FOUNDATION, Head Office.
Foundry Technology Duties:
Ensuring that efficient casting procedures are adhered to
Test/analyze and certify foundry material input (sand, chemicals, metals etc.) molten metal and
cast products etc
Monitoring and evaluation of foundry activities in the GRATIS network Offer technical advisory
services to local foundry men
Prototype and Manufacturing Duties:
Supervises the work of technicians and apprentices at the workshop. (Machining, Welding and
Fabrication jobs)
Coordinates workshop activities and reports job progress to Prototype and Manufacturing Center
Manager
Undertake purchasing of engineering raw materials, components and parts for the manufacture of
equipment.
Liaise with Design and Production to prepare materials list for production
Assists in the installation of equipment and machines bought from GRATIS
Assists in offering after sales service and maintenance services to clients
Quality Assurance Duties:
Inspection and testing of all engineering materials parts, components before
production/assembling for prototype development
Organize and train production staff in productivity and quality improvement techniques
