SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
MANPOWER: I have managed effectively the manpower resources allocated to me. I have
been closely involved and taken full responsibility of manpower planning ensuring the
effective delivery of service. I have also been involved with all issues of staff development,
in-service training and discipline.
COMMUNICATIONS: I have been instrumental in improving communication
9. structures within all organisations I have worked, believing that this is essential in
promoting good working practices. This has taken the form of introducing formal meeting
structures, appropriate staff development packages and general open door policy.
QUALITY ISSUES: I firmly believe in providing a quality service and I have been
involved in a number of projects to ensure that quality is a paramount importance to the
service providers. These have been measurable through systems which have been adopted
by the service.
MANAGEMENT STYLE: My management style is very much a democratic approach,
with the necessary autocratic approach as required. I strongly believe in devolving
responsibility to the lowest possible level in order to achieve ownership of the service. This
promotes better and more cost effective care which I believe can only benefit the customer.
I.T. / COMPUTER: I have worked with computer technology, ensuring effective
communication and information is available to improve service provision.
SERVICE DEVELOPMENTS: I was responsible for setting up and registering the
Domiciliary Care Agency with the Commission for Social Care Inspection in 2003 and
subsequently manage the Agency until its transfer to Prospect Housing and Support
Services. I was involved in the planning, preparation and successful transfer of the service
ensuring the support we provide to Service Users is person centred and meets the quality
standard of Prospect, the local authority purchasers and the requirement of the Health and
Social Care ACT 2008.
