EARLY CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Working for a property developer and builder in my late adolescent life gave me the hard work ethic I have to this day due to
the manual labour involved. It also helped me develop communication skills as I often had to liaise with a number of
different tradesmen and contractors often passing messages to them from my employer.
Having placement experience in health and Social Care has also been very valuable to my professional development as it has
allowed me to experience what it is like to be a part of a team in a care setting. It has also helped me develop effective
communication skills with a number of service users from adults to children. Alongside this my placements have taught me
the importance of patient centred care and the use of reflective practice.
Working as a part time call centre canvasser taught me a lot about working under pressure and the importance of reaching
targets as an independent. Pay largely depended upon commission and although I was given some training I had no previous
experience in sales, so it was important that I learned quickly on the job and picked up skills by listening to other staff
members who were more experienced.
Currently I am working full time for a company called AKINIKA Debt Recovery in their financial services department.
Although this is far from the job I envisioned after completing my foundation degree, it has provided me with my first full
time employment position outside of an educational setting. As I am dealing with customers over the phone all day I have
continued to develop communication skills at a verbal level and have also developed active listening and negotiation skills
which are transferrable attributes that I believe would be valuable in any professional setting. This has also allowed me to
develop the skills to ensure that will ensure that I provide excellent customer service

OTHER INFORMATION
In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit and going to the gym. I am also training in professional wrestling which is somewhat of
a dream I have had since childhood. This hobby has also given me the opportunity to assist with the organisation of live
events that are run in Morecambe Winter Gardens and often have more than 200 people attend. Alongside this I also
volunteer for the Lancashire County Council once every 2 weeks providing befriending and monitoring service. This entails
providing support to vulnerable adults who are socially isolated and includes accompanying them on days out and engaging
with them socially. I also enjoy travelling and spent the entirety of September of 2015 backpacking around Europe.
