To Whom It My Concern
I am a third-year School Psychology P.D. candidate at Fordham University
Gradate School of Education. I will be awarded a provisional certification as a School
Psychologist in the state of New York upon the completion of my program and
certification hours through my current internship in June of 2016. I am writing to apply
for a full time position at your school. Given my academic studies, professional
experiences, and desire to learn, I believe I have positioned myself as an ideal candidate
to contribute to your school. My graduate, as well as undergraduate, course of study and
internships have equipped me with a plethora of experience with various situations. This
has strengthened my skill sets and would allow me to successfully assist both educators
and students to be successful both inside and outside the classroom.
Interning with Howell Road Elementary and Valley Stream North High School in
Long Island and within District 75 at The Robert F. Kennedy School in New York City
allowed me to gain a strong knowledge of proper assessment and successful research
techniques to apply and implement with students of diverse classifications in both the
classroom and counseling. I provided functional behavioral assessments and behavior
intervention plans tailored individual student needs. Working at the Aaron School
allowed me to strengthen my consultation and counseling skills. I worked with teachers
and administrators to successfully implement behavior intervention plans for students to
achieve both counseling and social skills goals and to aid success within the classroom.
Additionally, I gained experience teaching social skills classes, vocational and
community skill classes, and participated in various individual education plan meetings,
as well as district and parent/ teacher consultation meetings and conferences.
My academic career and work experience indicate that I am a dedicated,
responsible, and competent individual within the field of School Psychology. I have
developed research and practice based intervention plans that encompass every aspect of
an individual student’s goals, social, emotional and academic, in order to assist the
student to successfully achieve each goal. Additionally, I incorporate my studies and
other sources of information to further assist the team of which I am a part to make well-
informed decisions about each client. These skills, coupled with a desire to learn, make
me an ideal candidate for a position with your school. I would greatly appreciate your
consideration and I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Christina Di Lorenzo
