3rd Colombo Art Biennale: Making History
‘Making History’ was a provocation exploring the artistic adventure of making history.
It enquired into the contemporary aesthetic experience, from historical, present and future points of view, to reveal a possible reality of making history as part of an art historical trajectory.
4. COLOMBOSCOPE
The Colomboscope offered a forum in which writers, musicians, thinkers, dancers, filmmakers and actors reflected upon history
in all its complexities. Colomboscope highlighted many facets of historical analysis, including the importance of complementing mainstream history with citizens accounts, the impact of the digital age on the documentation of historic events, the lessonsthat can be learned with the benefit of hindsight, and artistic re-interpretations of historic folk and dance heritage, are amongst the many themes and ideas that were showcased at the festival.

5. STATE DRAMA FESTIVAL 2014
State Drama Festival 2014 organized for the 42nd time by the Department of Cultural Affairs was held in February 2014 at Tower Hall Theatre , Maradana. 13 Dramas were selected for the final round in this year and this is the first occasion where highest number of dramas were selected for the final round in the resent history of the festival. 15 short dramas were also selected for the final round.

& ‘The Pahntom
of the Opera’ had
been two of the most awaited plays by theatre lovers and are due to be staged within the next couple
of weeks. There
has been a lot
of hype created around these plays through word of mouth, print and social media.
10. NO MORE JULY
This was an event commemorating the black July of 1983 while opposing violence
created in recent times. It was an evening that attempted to make a change in the way July
is remembered
in a culture which historical injustices are tend
to be forgotten.
11. ANNUAL FILM & THEATRE FESTIVALS
The Russian film festival featured five Russian films.
The SAARC film festival featured Films and Short Films from the SAARC Countries.
Films from around the world will be featured at the ‘Colombo International Film Festival’
