Competence-based curriculum development in higher education is a globalized concept that focuses on preparing students for the world of work through the acquisition and development of competencies. Competency refers to the ability to perform tasks to a defined standard and involves more than just learning skills. Competence-based education relates education to the world of work and is increasingly being adopted by universities, especially in fields with direct professional relevance like medicine, engineering, and law. While some criticisms of competence-based education exist, it can help make education more relevant if implemented carefully with attention to both disciplinary knowledge and generic competencies.
Effects and Control of Pulsating Flow in Gas MeasurementRicardo Carmona
This document discusses pulsatile flow in gas measurement systems. Pulsatile flow, caused by periodic fluctuations in pressure and velocity, is one of the most common measurement errors in natural gas metering. It describes how pulsations can affect different types of flow meters like orifice, turbine, and ultrasonic meters. It also presents methods for mitigating pulsation effects, including designing acoustic filters to isolate flow meters from pulsation sources. The key effects discussed are square root error in orifice meters caused by averaging the differential pressure across the orifice plate during pulsatile flow conditions.
This document summarizes a debate around the concept of "policy space" for developing countries. It defines policy space as the combination of the availability and effectiveness of a country's policy instruments. Availability depends on international rules, while effectiveness depends on a country's integration into the global economy. While international rules and agreements can constrain policy space by reducing availability, integration into the global economy can both reduce and expand policy space by influencing the effectiveness of domestic policies. Maintaining policy space requires balancing these de jure and de facto constraints.

This document discusses signal detection and classification techniques in cognitive radio systems. It begins with an introduction to cognitive radio and the importance of spectrum sensing. It then reviews several existing spectrum sensing techniques, including matched filter detection and energy detection. The key focus is on cyclostationary feature detection, which exploits the periodicities in signal statistics. The document proposes combining cyclostationary analysis with support vector machines for signal detection and classification in cognitive radios. It describes selecting spectral coherence characteristic parameters and choosing the optimal kernel and parameters for the support vector machine classifier. Performance analysis is provided over Gaussian and IEEE 802.22 WRAN channels. The proposed approach is found to be more effective than other classifiers like binary decision trees and multilayer perceptrons,

This document describes a genetic algorithm approach to synthesizing synchronous sequential logic circuits from partial input/output sequences. The input to the synthesizer is a partial sequence of inputs and corresponding outputs, rather than a complete state table or diagram. The genetic algorithm searches for circuits that represent the desired state transition function. It was able to successfully synthesize various simple sequential circuits like counters, adders, frequency dividers, and more. The analysis also looked at how the length of the input/output sequence affects the efficiency of the synthesizer.

This document discusses lessons learned from reviewing Gregory Evans' book "How to be the World's #1 Hacker". It summarizes that the review found significant plagiarism in the book, which led to unexpected events. Some key lessons discussed include:
- Twitter is a powerful tool for spreading information and organizing in situations like this. It was used by critics to discuss the issues with Evans' book.
- Self-publishing allows bypassing traditional fact-checking and plagiarism reviews, so plagiarism is more common. Evans' book likely would have been flagged if sent to a traditional publisher.
- Fair use can be interpreted differently, but Evans' book crossed the line into plagiarism

1) A kinetic model of the zeoforming process was developed based on analyzing experimental kinetic data from laboratory integral reactors. The model includes lumped reaction components and estimated rate constants and activation energies.
2) The zeoforming process involves several consecutive and parallel reactions on acid-base sites of zeolite catalysts. Main reactions include C-C bond scission in paraffins and olefin disproportination with aromatic formation.
3) Analysis of experimental data showed that increasing temperature and decreasing space velocity increased gas yield and reduced liquid fractions, shifting liquid products to contain more iso-paraffins and aromatics.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

1. 19th CENTURY
MUSIC
By
SERGIO ANDRÉS GÓMEZ
RAMÍREZ
2. INTRODUCTION
The Nineteenth century was marked by a lot of social and political change.
The growth of industry and trade led to a commercially driven society. After the
revolutions of the late 18th century the public viewed any self-proclaimed
authority with skepticism. The independence and leisure of the individual
became all-important.
All of the above had an impact on the fine arts. In fact, it wasn't until the 19th
century that music, poetry, literature, painting, architecture, and sculpture were
lumped together and distinguished from other forms of art. Philosophers such
as Kant, Schopenhauer, and Hegel all sought to define the significance of
Romantic music.
3. INTRODUCTION
As the 18th century drew to a close so too did the days of patronage. The
only way for many artists to make a living was through a court
appointment or the support of a patron. Mozart may have been one of the
first composers to try his hand as a freelance composer but the
composers of the 19th century really established this as a trade. Public
performance was growing in popularity so composers were no longer
only writing music for royal courts and the events that took place within.
Operas were also being increasingly performed as ticketed events rather
than just a gathering place for the nobility.
8. COMPOSITIONAL STYLES FORMS
The 19th century was marked by a number of distinctive compositional styles
and forms. Many of these began during the Classical period but major revisions
and new standards were applied by the composers of the Romantic era. The
emerging aesthetics of the period remain popular and are adhered to by many
modern composers. The symphony and opera are two excellent examples of
this and they are examined in the following two sections respectively:
•Instrumental Styles and Forms
•Vocal Styles and Forms
9. INSTRUMENTAL STYLES
FORMS
Instrumental music styles of the 19th century varied from short to lengthy
works written for single instruments or large orchestras. These pieces can
be categorized as either absolute or program music. Although there is an
abundance of instrumental music styles and forms common to the period,
chamber and piano music, the symphony, and program music are
distinctively 19th century.
10. CHAMBER PIANO MUSIC
Chamber music, as its name implies, is a work written for a small ensemble
(generally from one to five players) well suited to performances in mid-sized
rooms or chambers. Composers had been writing for string quartets for some
time but with the larger diversity of instruments, quintets became common as
did music for small ensembles of wind instruments. As the piano gained in
popularity it was added to these sting and wind ensembles, often as a
featured instrument. Many concertos and sonatas were written for the piano
as it became a symbol of gentility. Franz List and Frederic Chopin were two
of the best known piano virtuoso's of the day.

15. PERIOD INSTRUMENTS
The 19th Century was an important period of development for a number of
orchestral instruments. This was partly driven by the advance of industry and
its impact on the craft of instrument making. The popularity of solo
performance and the incredible skill of the musicians and composers also
pushed the limits of instruments throughout the period.
