extent of political involvement or campaigning, donations to or
sponsorship of the arts, educational, sporting organizations or charities.

4. Founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1868, the Tata group
is a global enterprise headquartered in India(Mumbai).
Revenue of Tata companies, taken together, was $103.27 billion
in 2014-15, with 70.2 percent of this coming from businesses
outside India.

Tata Motors is among the top five commercial vehicle manufacturers in
the world.

Tata Chemicals is the world’s second-largest manufacturer of soda ash.

8. Tata Steel, is supporting 30 children belonging to the Sabar
and Birhore tribes from the villages of Patamda block, by
enrolling them in two schools namely St. Thomas High School,
Gandedungri and Loyola School, Chaira.
Last year Tata Steel’s Tribal Cultural Society
had admitted 10 children from Dongagarral
and Dhusra villages in Holy Cross School, Chowka for
formal education.
9. The village of Jarandi, located near Khardi on the Mumbai-Nasik
highway.
The plan focuses mainly on sustainable development in the village.
The purpose of the project is to enrich small-holder farmers through a
more holistic and self-reliant.
It also focus on community development, gender empowerment,
protection of environment and health awareness.
10. Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS) has helped in providing
sustainable livelihood opportunities to more than 3,000 rural households.
More than 90 per cent of these SHGs are run exclusively by women,
thereby providing a significant fillip to women’s empowerment in the
state.
The locations where Tata Steel is actively
facilitating formation of SHGs include
Kalinganagar, Bamnipal, Sukinda, Joda, Belpahar and Gopalpur.
11. The drive was aimed at creating awareness of the
Environment Day, while highlighting the importance and
role of every young citizen in promoting sustainability.
The sapling plantation initiative saw a large participation
from secondary students.
12. Tata Group has emerged as biggest CSR spending group in the country.
As per a media report an Indian conglomerate, the Tata Group spent Rs
1,000 crore on corporate social responsibility (CSR) in 2013-14.
While some Tata companies spend more than 2% of their profits on CSR,
others like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) are yet to meet the
requirement. In fiscal 2014, the outsourcing giant’s CSR expenditure was
Rs 93 crore, which was 0.48% of its profits

category.
