WHY
WE
NEED
SENSOR
?
Presentation title
 Sensors are used in daily every day objects
such as touch sensitive elevator and lamps
which dim or brighten by touching the base.
 There are in numerable applications of this
technology of which most of the people are not
aware.
 It applications include cars, machines,
aerospace ,medicines ,manufacturing and
robotics
 AUTOMATION CAN DOS’T BE IMAGINED
WITHOUT SENSOR
HOW THE SENSORS WORKS
Presentation title 20XX 4
TYPES OF SENSOR
1. Ultrasonic sensor
 An ultrasonic sensor is an instrument that measures the
distance to an object using ultrasonic sound waves.
 Ultrasonic sensors emit short, high-frequency sound pulses
at regular intervals. These propagate in the air at the
velocity of sound. If they strike an object, then they
reflected back as an echo signals to the sensor, which itself
computes the distance to the target based on the time-span
between emitting the signal and receiving the echo.
2. Humidity Sensors
 Humidity sensors are electronic devices that measure and
report the moisture and air temperature of the surrounding
environment where they are deployed e.g., in air, soil, or
confined spaces.
 Humidity measurements indicate the concentration of water
vapor presented in the air.
3. Smoke and Gas Sensors
 One of the very useful sensors in safety related applications
are Smoke and Gas Sensors. Almost all offices and industries
are equipped with several smoke detectors, which detect any
smoke (due to fire) and sound an alarm.
 They can detect different gases like LPG, Propane, Butane,
Methane (CH4), etc.
