Critical thinking involves engaging in reflective and independent thinking to understand logical connections between ideas, identify and evaluate arguments, and solve problems systematically. It includes the ability to detect inconsistencies, reflect on one's own beliefs and values, and identify what is relevant and important. There are 6 steps to critical thought: 1) knowledge acquisition, 2) comprehension, 3) application, 4) analysis, 5) synthesis, and 6) evaluation. The steps build upon each other from basic recall to putting ideas together creatively and finally making judgments.
