Effects theory

Society controls everything; culture is produced
by the industry of media. This is an example
that presents people with ideologies as they
will accept what has been given by the
 media.
Ideology

An Ideology is a system of belief constructed by a
media text. Ideologies of society- for example being
 rich and famous
Chomsky believed mass media diverts people
attention from real issues like poor living conditions.
One of the many issues portrayed in the song
 fortminor, “changes”
 Explicit- newspaper
 Implicit- visual representation
Representation
Representation is a representation of reality to create meaning
for the audience- e.g. stereotypes to appeal to target audience.
This is evident in the text as in the picture, two young characters
who have made a new hip hop song are shown. This represents
that anyone can make it big through hard work, perseverance,
and determination. This magazine rebels against traditional
stereotypes as they are asian youths which show music is for
everyone, regardless of Age, disability, gender, socio-economic
 grouping, race, nationality, or sexuality.
Media language
There is an Active institutional view- meaning transmitted by text
as active to the audience as a receiver.
viewer interprets media texts differently and deconstructs
accordingly
Deconstruction
An audience deconstructs text through logos and not a single
meaning but individual interpretations. The fort minor logo used
creates meaning of a well organised, experienced, and intelligent
perception due to the simplicity of having 2 letters with the
contrasting colours, white, red, and black.
