Cloud computing allows small and medium enterprises to access automation applications remotely, helping them streamline operations without heavy investments. This reduces costs and prevents attrition from impacting businesses. Custom software often fails for SMEs due to lack of understanding between users and developers, but cloud-based SAAS applications follow standard procedures and can be implemented quickly. SAAS is beneficial for both businesses and software companies. Social media marketing is also an important strategy for SMEs, but requires careful planning to build communities and share original content, rather than directly selling products.
6 Reasons to use an HR Software (https://www.sumhr.com/why-choose-the-sumhr-software/)
1) No Bulky Spreadsheets. No Complex Formulas. HR Management At Your Finger Clicks.
For ages, HR folks have been living in between sheets (spreadsheets, to be precise). When the data gets overwhelming, the formulas get confusing. Whether it's Attendance logs, Leave applications and balances, or plain columns of data with Employee Profile details, sumHR HR Software runs it's magic wand (of course, metaphorically speaking) and presents a simple, easy, and effective way to manage tons of your HR data and processes.
2) Simple To Understand, Easy To Use HR Software. There's Nothing Technical About It.
One of our primary design principles is ease-of-use. We know how ugly and difficult conventional HR software can be, and we've designed sumHR to be the exact opposite. Unlike other human resources products, you don’t have to go through days or weeks of training, before you can start using sumHR. You don't need any "Technical Skills" to use it. In fact, if you use 'Facebook/LinkedIn/Twitter', you already know how to use sumHR.
3) Pay As You Grow, Use As You Need. We Believe In Value, Not In Money.
Being firmly grounded in the 'Startup & Small Medium Business' mindset ourselves, we understand the value of money - paid or earned. As a budding organization looking for HR software, one of the top priorities on your mind is to find a “low-cost high-value” product. That's why we've kept our pricing very simple, transparent, and reasonable - per employee/month. No license fees, no setup charges, and no lock-in periods.
4) Payroll Is Simple, Easy, & Enjoyable.
The word "Payroll" is often associated with fear and difficulty. We have faced the same feeling too! But sumHR will completely change your perspective. Coupled with our friendly support team, features such as salary structure templates, pre-set statutory rules, up-to-date tax slabs, simplified workflow, integration with attendance/leaves and much more - will make payroll management dead easy.
5) Scaling Up Or Growing Gradually. sumHR Learns And Grows With You.
For Startups and Small Medium Businesses, growing with time is the only way ahead. But when it comes to HR management in growing companies, quantity of data and volume of work often become a problem. The HR software will let you manage small or large volumes of data with ease and simplicity. It can handle growth and scale seamlessly. And, as you gain experience with sumHR we get newer ideas to make sumHR even better.
6) Delight You First, Surprise You Next. Constantly Getting Better, Newer.
Times change, needs change and so do we. When you give us feedback, we take it very seriously. And we return the favour by surprising you the next time you log in. We do this not because we get more business, but because it solves your problems. After all, why would you use a human resources software that doesn't serve its purpose?

Making applications
do exactly what you
need them to do,
for a better business
and an easier life.
@desynit
We believe that good systems can change your life.
Happiness comes from doing more of the things you are good at, and ditching
the stuff that keeps you from smiling.
Too much time is wasted in business and in life by doing things inefficiently.
Too many precious hours spent working round problems instead of sorting them out.
It’s not about IT, it’s about the kind of business you want to be.
How do you want to live your life?
Find out more about what we believe…
More thinking, less technology
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler. Einstein said that first, and we agree.
Simple is not as easy as it sounds, but it’s the way to make it work best. Making your systems
simple means you need to do more thinking – what is the sales information I truly need every day?
– and less jumping to technological solutions – let’s put the whole lot into a dashboard of reports.
‘Why’ is the most powerful word. We use it a lot. The understandings that come from repeated
whys help us get your systems doing exactly what you need them to.
People are the key
You are at the heart of your business so you are the priority.
People first, technology second – that’s the way it has to be.
Working to understand the people in your business – what they need to do, how they
need things to work, the challenges they are facing – is the biggest part of what we do.
It means we do more listening and less telling. It’s your business, not ours. You know it best, so we
will listen to you so that we can make your systems do exactly what’s required to hit your targets.
Evolution not revolution
When it comes to systems we believe in evolution not revolution.
Your old systems contain precious business information, and tempting as
it may be to wipe the slate clean and start all over again, throwing them
out entirely doesn’t make good business sense. We say, break the
problem down into smaller steps. Make changes as part of a rational
and sequenced process. Less drama, happier ending.
Partnerships make you better
Partnering with customers, partnering with other companies like Salesforce.com – it’s building
connections that makes you stronger and positions you for success. Choosing Desynit means
plugging into a powerful network.
We believe in being more open. We love to collaborate. We’re happy to put our hands up
and say we don’t know everything, but we do know who to ask for help. We believe in the
power of communities and we have created some great ones.
Working with Desynit means working collaboratively. Being open to new ideas is exciting
and challenging, and it’s the only way to make change happen.
Agile wins the day
There’s no room for waterfall development techniques when it
comes to integrating software projects. Get everyone involved, start,
adapt, develop, change, and repeat the process until you’re there.
Planning is just guessing. Trying, testing, adapting is the only sure
way to get your systems really performing.
Systems design is a craft
Systems design should be executed with pride
and stand the test of time. We’re proud that the
systems we build make our clients’ lives better.
This is our aim.

5. How to make
Salesforce
work for your
business
www.desynit.com
A Desynit guide
5
What can Salesforce
do for your business?
Let’s start with a quick recap.
What’s the point of Salesforce in the
first place? What is it exactly, and
what benefits can it deliver?
Salesforce is a CRM – helping
you create and manage great
customer experiences.
Every day, you have conversations with
customers and prospects about your
company and products. Customer
relationship management (CRM) is
the set of business processes and
underlying applications that helps
manage all your customer information,
activities, and conversations. With CRM,
your sales, marketing, and customer
service teams can understand every
customer and deliver the right message
or answer. By analysing this information,
you can make better decisions to close
more business, reduce the
cost of service, and keep every
customer satisfied.
A CRM in the cloud – your team
can use it anywhere.
CRM is shifting toward cloud
computing. Instead of buying and
maintaining expensive servers
and software to manage customer
conversations and information,
companies can use Web-based
(“cloud”) applications to run their
CRM – and get a high return on
their investment. Salesforce.com is
a leader in cloud computing, offering
a complete set of CRM cloud
applications, a cloud platform,
and a cloud infrastructure.
CRM cloud apps need to be easy to
use for sales, marketing, and service
professionals in any industry.
Salesforce gives you complete freedom
to customise the CRM for your
business. It’s the best way to boost
adoption and make sure your CRM
apps are working the way you do.
More than a CRM – a customisable
platform for all that you do.
Salesforce.com is not just a CRM;
it’s a cloud-based platform – a complete
IT infrastructure for your business
hosted on their servers on top of which
you can build bespoke applications to
suit your business requirements.

The first of the big business system

Never mind that it was the same

But the world of business systems

Customer story
Salesforce is a business-wide
success for The Retention People
The challenge
The Retention People is a small
business with a big reach — it has a
global customer base and locations
in the UK, the US and Australia.
Providing customer experience
management software and solutions
to leisure clubs worldwide, this
company is the fastest growing
business in its sector.
Sales and marketing director,
Justin Mendleton, recognised that
the company’s existing CRM system
just could not keep pace with the
growth of the business. With teams
on three continents, the Salesforce
platform was a great choice to allow
them to stay connected and work
towards shared goals.
Justin needed a system that connected
their teams by giving them a single
up-to-date view of their sales pipeline
and process. The challenge was to
get the people and processes at
The Retention People up and running
on the Salesforce platform in a short
space of time.

01 The slow ‘S’ & ‘L’ rule
On approaching a surface road-marking stating
the word ‘SLOW‘, the rider should position the front
wheel so that the bike will smoothly travel between
the letters ‘S’ and ‘L’. Failure to comply will curse
the next 5 miles of the ride with terribly ‘bad luck’.
02 The 2 bottle rule
Always leave the house with two bottles. On a hot day or
when taking part in a ride longer than 50 miles fill BOTH
bottles with your chosen energy drink. On a ride shorter
than 50 miles, fill the black-lidded bottle with drink and
use the blue-lidded bottle to carry food and gels.

What is intelligent lead & case assignment?
Intelligent assignment is a way
for you to make sure you get
the right salesperson onto a lead
automatically (in Sales Cloud)
or the right agent on the case
(in Service Cloud).
Intelligent assignment
lets you automatically
distribute leads, cases or
opportunities depending on
the needs of your business.
Intelligent automation allows
you to automatically assign
work to your teams, based
on location, skills or working
hours (or whatever category
works for you).
Intelligent assignment is
flexible. As your business
scales or changes, you
change the rules, and your
system changes too.
Intelligent assignment plays
to the strengths of your top
performers. You can see
who’s performing best, and
assign your hottest leads to
your best people.

Get it right,

4. Make your process fair
How do you choose which
lead goes to which rep?
Is your lead distribution
process smooth and fair?
What often happens without
distribution tools is that leads
go into a general pot where they
can be seen by all your reps.
With everyone looking at the
same list, you’ll often find some
reps cherry picking the ones
they fancy, while others get
left behind.
Intelligent lead and case
assignment makes your system
fit and fair for everyone. Make
it work the way you want it to.
Set up a round robin distribution
system, add in load balanced
limits, and optional weightings.
It means you can give more
leads to your senior reps at the
top of their game, and less leads
to trainees while they’re finding
their feet.
If you make it predictable

Time Schedule
Notoriously difficult to predict.
Beware false starts.
Key Riders
Strong start: Salesforce
consultant and Project Sponsor
Riding peloton: Executive Team
Don’t be a chaser. Stay ahead of the pack.

Great visibility at the summit. Swift downhill finish with renewed sense of purpose.
Warning: Bad data conditions may cause delays.
Time Schedule
Overall, usually quicker than imagined.
Key Riders
Setting the pace: Salesforce
consultant and lead developer.
Stage 4 User Training ‘Adoption Mountain’
Stage Overview
Arguably the most important stage of all. Steep climbs in understanding, followed
by the freewheeling joy of knowledge. Yellow jerseys won and lost at this stage.
Warning: Don’t lose sight of the finish line.
Time Schedule
Caution: May take longer than you think.
Every second counts.
Key Riders
Leading the pack:

Time Schedule
How long is a road?
Key Riders
Coming into their own:
Salesforce Users.
Stages 6-21 ‘The Open Road’
Knowledge and capabilities grow as the route unwinds.
Beware – Challenges ahead as business requirements change.
Be prepared to cycle hard and build up speed. Special riders’ notes –
Investment into the system will peak and trough, but ROI will grow by the mile.

At Life Cycle UK we believe in the power of
the bicycle to change lives and the environment.
Cycling transforms people’s physical and mental
health: it offers freedom; independence; brings
people together and connects them to local
facilities and jobs – as well as offering a
low-carbon transport option that improves
urban environments for us all.
However, in order to start cycling many people
need a little extra training, encouragement
and support. That’s where Life Cycle UK comes in.
As interest in cycling continues to grow,
we are helping more people than ever to
unlock the benefits of two wheels …

Happy Hour
There are lots of ‘not so secret’ after parties to attend that I am sure you are aware of, but the
APPIRIO customer event party, is “way more fun and social”, according to Geraldine, who also
advises on heading over to the APPBASH if you can squeeze it in.
But if you are wanting to head out into San Fran and sit at a bar with your community peers, pick
any happy hour, but after that Ryan advises heading over to PANDORA KARAOKE BAR, but
beware there are a lot of your peers hogging the mic in there.
OR if you want to find me then I will most certainly be in this place thanks to Simon Lawrence
recommendation – TONGA (they have a band playing on a boat in the middle of a swimming
pool and your cocktail comes in a coconut)!
If you are after meeting Steve Mo – just visit any place that sells Pliny the Elder (not sure how
popular that is out in San Fran, so hopefully you won’t have you go to too many bars ;) )

Is this the Salesforce
event of the year?
“Is there any other event? – MIKE GERHOLDT
“A chance to live in the
land of Salesforce. Guys,
the view from the inside
is AMAZING!”
RYAN HEADLEY, MVP
Who would
question whether
Dreamforce is the SF
event of the year?!
Well me (even if it is
rhetorical). But for those
who need reminding
why this event is
so special then
read on …
#1 It’s SO cool!
Dreamforce is HUGE – It really is. Last year alone saw
over 135k registered attendees, from 91 different
countries, spread across 18 venues, attending
1,450 sessions, listening to 20 different live concert
performances whilst drinking 5k gallons of coffee to
keep ‘em going. Phew. I think I’m going to need one
of those coffees!
#2 It’s bloomin’ marvellous!
Lots to learn with over 1,500 sessions (including 142
Admin Sessions), 188 hours of Salesforce Training and
one hell of a line up of keynote speakers, it will be tough
for anyone not to feel inspired by the end of Dreamforce.
#3 It’s one big celebration!
ADMIN DAY, ADMIN DAY, ADMIN DAY.
Yes, an entire day to celebrate just how AWESOME
we admins actually are. See you on the 17th September
for treats, contests and surprises!
“It’s a SF sensory experience
… the tastes, the smells,
sights, sounds. They will
last a lifetime!”
JENNIFER WOBSER, MVP
PSSST!
Word in the woods is that the Admin
Zone is taking a new path this year …

The Good
Salesforce
Admins’
Manifesto
Good systems change your life,
we’ve said it before, and the
Salesforce platform is a great system
on which to build your organisation.
We hope that we made it loud and
clear though – great technology is
only part of the picture. What we
know is that behind every SF business
success story, there’s a going to be an
even greater Admin working hard to
keep everybody happily on track.
Our Good Salesforce Admins’ Manifesto
is for every Admin out there, putting in
the time behind the setup menu, to
make your systems stronger, better
and safer every day.
This is what we believe makes us
great admins. This is our manifesto.
Community makes you stronger
Questions answered, solutions found, meetups,
on demand peer expertise; with a
community this good, you are
never far from the support you
need. That’s because every
Admin knows that being part
of the Salesforce community
makes them stronger, and as a
result, it makes the organisation
we work for even stronger too.
Wear your certs with pride
Getting your Salesforce Admin Certificate
means you are apart of a pretty
exclusive club so wear your badge
of honour with pride. Not
only that but we support and
encourage anyone who is yet
to gain their certificate, as it’s
TOUGH (and some of the best
Admins around didn’t pass first
time around. True story).
All admins are craftspeople
Every Admin should be proud of the part they play
at their place of work. We are the
guardians of the system, the
defenders of the data, the
upholders of the workflows.
In short we are the platform’s
craftspeople. We take pride
in our work and find beauty
in elegant solutions to
tricky problems.
The AppExchange gives
you superpowers
The AppExchange is one huge store of preconfigured
solutions to problems you didn’t even
know you had…yet. When you’ve
got apps like this on demand,
then you can be sure that there
is a (power) tool for every tricky
situation. Admins know that using
the AppExchange wisely gives
them superpowers.
A heart for clicks with a head for code
While we can almost rule the world with clicks,
we know that our secret weapon
is to still have a head for code...
or in other words a logical,
programming mindset.
That’s what really makes a good
admin brilliant. Clicks and code
can coexist, and knowing when
to deploy one above the other
is our special skill.
Change is good
Three times a year the seasonal Salesforce winds
of change blow strong, and that means one thing:
a new release. New features, new
functionality, new ways of solving
old problems, every Spring,
Summer and Winter. Change
can be tough, but Salesforce
Admins know that this is what
keeps their platform a living,
breathing place to do business.

40. Chartership for
Product Designers
is a roaring success.
The IED (Institution of Engineering Designers) is delighted to announce that the
Chartered Technological Product Designer (CTPD) registration launched in
July 2015 is proving to be a popular and sought-after qualification.
www.ied.org.uk
CTPD is a unique Chartership, developed specially for
designers working in Product Design with the specific aim
of providing professional recognition, support and
registration to designers, on a par with their colleagues
who register as Chartered Engineers, Chartered Scientists
or Chartered Environmentalists.
The IED has been granted licence to award Chartered status to Product Designers
by decree of the Privy Council, the Chartership is a competence–based registration,
focussing on the abilities and skills of the designer.
The first few registrants include Dr Ben Watson from 3M,
Dr Caroline Simcock from Dyson and Mr Ian Callum, Chief Designer at Jaguar.
A Unique Chartership
IAN CALLUM
Director of Design for Jaguar said:
“The introduction of CTPD is a
vital development for professionalism
in the design community.
The Chartership recognises and
values the hard work, expertise
and commitment to excellence
demonstrated by product designers.
It was an honour to become one
of the first recipients.”
DR CAROLINE SIMCOCK
Dyson said:
“CTPD is exactly what the industry
has been crying out for; a means for
product designers to differentiate
themselves. With CTPD they can
demonstrate their professional
standing and experience.
A great opportunity for all
aspiring product designers.”
DR BEN WATSON
3M said:
“Product Design, is not only about
technical competency, but an
inclusive and collaborative way of
thinking to resolve some of the world’s
most complex challenges through
technical, commercial and humanistic
perspectives. CTPD is a way to
recognise the unique space occupied
by these diverse professionals, that
operate at the most senior levels
in all sectors of business and
technology leadership.”
The development of the
Chartership is supported
by the Design Council,
who urged all who work
in Product Design to
take up the opportunity
of registration as a
professional, via peer
review by those working
in the industry.
Professional Registration
JOHN MATHERS
CEO Design Council said:
“This Chartership is a welcomed and
timely development for the Product
Design community, we think it will
be of great value to those working in
technological product design and their
employers, helping to identify those
designers who have reached the stage
in their careers which enables them
to become professionally registered.”
In future, the IED will
introduce accreditation of
degree-level courses towards
the Chartership and are
very excited to be able to
exclusively offer a professional
registration tailored specifically
for those professionals
working in technological
product design.
