Session Title: Creating Your Own Professional Brand
As education becomes increasingly global, it is more important than ever to tap into virtual resources to promote Career and Technical Education at both an individual and a programmatic level. This session will equip you with the tools you need to establish your brand in order to stand apart from the masses and build partnerships with business and industry.
February 2015 article in Time Magazine called LinkedIn “The Most Powerful Job-Finding Tool on Earth”. Owning your presence and controlling what is published on the web in your name is critical to success but can also make managing yours and your students educational portfolio much more efficient and effective. During this session we will explore the possibilities and learn a few quick tips and tricks to help manage this massive web.

What’s your story? How can you use your online presence to share your professional story?
Create two columns on post it paper- Heart & check- list networks that could be used for either (anything that asks you to create a profile and you can “get social” is a social media outlet)
Activity: Which tool do you feel should be used for personal (not private- no such thing) or professional? Divide up board and put a heart for personal and a checkmark for professional
Time permits, have audience come up with 5 Action items
Action Steps for the next week:
1. Google yourself- find out where you are (do an assessment)
2. Have someone else google you- and ask for brutal feedback- what needs to be added, what needs to go
3. Clean up your online profiles (if necessary)
4. Decide which social media outlets to build for your professional profiles
5. Participate in a Twitter Education Chat
