Analytics, Big Data and Nonvolatile Memory Architectures – Why you Should Car...StampedeCon
This session will begin with an overview of current non-volatile memory (NVM, aka persistent memory) architectures and its relationship between several levels of memory and storage hierarchy, both near- and far-processor. A discussion on its significant impact on computing analytic workloads now and in the near future will ensue, including use cases and the concept of very large persistent memory surfaces as applied to both analytic computation and storage for big data workflows. The presentation will end with ‘why you should care’ about such technologies which inevitably will completely change the way we think about solving data-intensive problems.
This thesis examines the operating mechanisms of nonvolatile memory devices fabricated using ZnO nanoparticles embedded in a polymer layer. Chapter 1 introduces the study, noting the potential of such hybrid inorganic/organic nanocomposites for memory applications. Chapter 2 provides background on energy band diagrams and nonvolatile memory devices. The thesis then analyzes the memory effects and switching characteristics of devices using ZnO nanoparticles in a PVP layer in Chapter 3. Chapter 4 explores enhancing the memory effect by adding a C60 layer. Results indicate these organic memory devices show promise for next-generation nonvolatile applications by exploiting the charging and discharging of nanoparticles.
The document discusses Microsoft HoloLens, an augmented reality headset. It introduces HoloLens and describes what a hologram is. It then explains how HoloLens works using augmented reality technology and depth cameras to overlay holographic images onto the real world. The document outlines HoloLens' key hardware components, software features, advantages for various applications, and its future potential.

Introduction:
Microsoft HoloLens is the first holographic computer running Windows 10. It is completely untethered–no wires, phones, or connection to a PC needed. Microsoft HoloLens allows you to pin holograms in your physical environment and provides a new way to see your world.
Microsoft HoloLens features see-through, holographic, high-definition lenses and spatial sound so you can see and hear holograms in the world around you. Complete with advanced sensors and a new Holographic Processing Unit (HPU) that understands the world around you, Microsoft HoloLens is able to run without any wires while processing terabytes of data from the sensors in real-time
A hologram is an object made entirely of light that can be viewed from different angles like a physical object but has no mass or physical resistance. Holograms can be two-dimensional like paper or three-dimensional like real objects. Microsoft Hololens allows users to see and interact with holograms in the real world by pinning digital content and apps virtually anywhere using advanced sensors and a holographic processing unit. Potential uses of Hololens include viewing and editing 3D models, video chatting, gaming, controlling devices remotely, and more across industries like design, manufacturing, education, and healthcare.

A Lightweight MDD Process Applied in Small ProjectsGabor Guta
The document describes a lightweight model-driven development (MDD) process for small projects. It involves creating a domain model from requirements and using a simple code generation tool and templates to generate initial code artifacts. Developers then refine the templates by implementing features in prototypes and integrating them into the templates. This process was successfully applied to a small web application project to generate readable and modifiable code. The document concludes that this minimal MDD approach can benefit small projects without needing complex MDA tools.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.

Microservice Teams - How the cloud changes the way we workSven Peters
A lot of technical challenges and complexity come with building a cloud-native and distributed architecture. The way we develop backend software has fundamentally changed in the last ten years. Managing a microservices architecture demands a lot of us to ensure observability and operational resiliency. But did you also change the way you run your development teams?
Sven will talk about Atlassian’s journey from a monolith to a multi-tenanted architecture and how it affected the way the engineering teams work. You will learn how we shifted to service ownership, moved to more autonomous teams (and its challenges), and established platform and enablement teams.
