1. Cover Letter
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Luis Dias. I am currently a fully Panamanian licensed OIM with over twenty years Offshore
Experience on "Jack Up" Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU).
As an OIM my personnel commitments are the Safety of the Crews & the integrity of the Installation, to meet
all Company Clients targets within time & budget without compromising safety.
I am currently OIM onboard of KFELS “B” Class MODU Jack up West Callisto operating in Saudi waters drilling
for Saudi Aramco.
My duties onboard are listed but not limited to the following criteria.
• Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of all personnel assigned on the Rig. Perform supervisory functions
at the level established by management for the position.
• Direct and supervise all departments, work-over and/or completion activities assigned to the rig as required.
Ensure that drilling/completion programs are adhered to at each step of the operation. Include maintaining
close liaison with the OIM and client representatives to report observations, recommending necessary
changes to drilling/completion programs and direct implementation of new instruction/program details where
appropriate.
• Plan, review and direct the receipt of materials and spares required for ongoing and contingent drilling
operations assigned to the rig. Include planning requirements, assigned Materials/Accounting Supervisor to
ensure availability of optimum level of materials
• Exercise general supervision all drilling maintenance activities on assigned rig to ensure that all drilling
equipment is in good working conditions and directs preventive and/or break down maintenance/repairs as
required. Includes ensuring that well control equipment is with established procedures and maintenance
schedules. Approves planning oversees shutdown maintenance to ensure that appropriate safety measures
are taken and rig down time is confined to minimum levels.
• Ensure compliance with company and clients regulations on assigned rig to ensure timely execution of
assigned drilling/work-over/completion programs without prejudice to safety of assigned personnel, rig, the
environment, well and reservoir. Includes, supervising various emergency drills and monitoring performance
of assigned crew to ensure readiness, promoting safety awareness and the practice of good housekeeping
and environmental practices on the rig.
• Liaise with the operating company representative on the rig to promote mutually beneficial working
relations. Includes assuming recommended changes to drilling programs in light of new down hole
parameters, checking all calculations for drilling optimization, cementation, stimulation and well control, and
assisting in the preparation of drilling report for the operating company.
• Prepare and submit periodic (monthly) reports covering drilling activities.
• Submit daily drilling report by email, review and approve the comment report when appropriate and
maintains accurate records of all activities carried out on assigned rig.
