1. I like this picture because this picture shows the
prettiness of women. Also, I like the coronet on
the girl’s head. This pictured shows the detail of
the coronet. I’m thinking it must be hard to make
I like the design in this costume. Even thought I
don’t know much about Chinese Opera, but I can
guess that the character who wears this costume
must be a very powerful man. The color red and
yellow made me think of loyalty.
In the picture on left, there are costume with similar
style and pattern but different colors. In Chinese
Opera, color red, yellow, blue and black represents
different things.
2. This is a pair of shoe with bright colors. In Chinese Opera there
are lots of colors in 1 costume. The bottom of this pair of shoe
is very thick, so it makes the person higher. Also, High heels
make the actor walk more slowly and graceful.
This costume is definitely for normal civilians who. In the
Opera, this kind of costume might exist when the main
character is walking through a street or a little store. I like
the way that .simple costume were designed for Chinese
Opera, people can clearly know who is normal people and
I like the coronet in this picture. Even
though there is a lot of colors and little
things on the coronet, it doesn’t look
messy for me.
3. There are thousands of different
painted faces (facial mask). I like this
make up because I like its design
with orange and black together.
Many facial masks are set for a
particular character. For example in
this figure, this make up design
represents a very powerful general -
Zhang Fei.
4. I made the heel of this shoe very
thick, so it is like making the actor
taller and walk with more energy.
I used the color blue and green because blue and green
makes me feel freshing. Also, because this costume is for
woman, I designed it for normal woman who take care of their
family. Green and Blue are the only colors, so the costume
look simple instead of complicated

want the face to look too colorful.

8. I used blue and green for the dress because I want my character to wear simple
costume instead of complicated costume. The character I’m creating is a young girl who
is a good wife. For the make-up, of course it does not present a female. The make up is
for the girl’s husband, who is mad and not very nice.
