Cost estimates provide information on the resources and associated costs needed to complete project work. There are several techniques to develop cost estimates including parametric estimates, analogous estimates, and three-point estimates. Parametric estimates determine a cost variable and cost per unit, then multiply the number of units by the cost per unit. Analogous estimates compare a current project to a similar past project. Three-point estimates account for uncertainty by developing optimistic, most likely, and pessimistic cost scenarios.
