Costa Rica is a Central American country located between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, with diverse ecosystems like beaches, forests, and biodiversity. It has over 25% of its territory protected for conservation. 2. Costa Rica occupies a privileged
spot in the heart of Central America.
While its territory of 19,652 square
miles touches both the Caribbean
Sea and the Pacific Ocean, the
country is surprisingly accessible
-one can travel from coast to coast
in just three hours by car (or 45
minutes by plane).
The Caribbean region of Costa Rica
stands out for its variety of aquatic
ecosystems and its beautiful white
and black sand beaches, providing
an ideal setting for activities such as
sport fishing, snorkeling, and sun
bathing. The Pacific coast con-centrates
big tourist centers and its
beaches are very popular for
surfing, for example Esterillos, Jaco,
Hermosa, Boca Barranca. In the
Golfito region, near the Marino
Ballena National Park, surfing fans
can find the famous "long
lefthander wave."
The 2012 World Bank Study for Global Gover-nance
Indicators ranks Costa Rica in the second
place within Latin America for political stability.

There are 726 miles of coastline distributed
throughout the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean
Sea. Costa Rican beaches are surrounded by
forests and have great natural diversity.

4. Costa Rica has around 25% of the national territory as national parks or natural
reserves. This is the reason why we have strong regulation and activities around
preserving our national resources, but we need more than that.
Every day hundreds of trees are cut, poachers take our animals to sale it in the
black market and part of the population doesn’t take actions to decrease the
environment impact of our social activities.
With this project, AIESEC joins national initiatives and contribute with
international volunteers to improve our environment.
Our Partner
In this project the interns will work in four areas: Finca Loroco will be the first:
working to improve the infrastructure and create awareness about
archaeological sites. The second will be Purisil, here our interns will have
trainings about “green management” and with this knowledge, work with kids.
The third will be Tapantí, a national park, where the interns will work in
signposting and creating infrastructure. And the last one will be concerned with
working in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, on a campaign against the road
running over wildlife and hunting.

5. The multicultural experience give the opportunity to understand better our
world. When you share your culture, traditions and knowledge you are creating
connections between countries and this is the objective of this project: “Create
bounds between countries through experiences”.
In this project the volunteers will have the opportunity to work with different NGOs,
making different activities such as:
Yigüirro
Marketing campaigns
Teaching kids about their culture
Improving social projects of the NGOs
Working with disabled people
Helping in nursery homes.

6. In this moment its clear languages are a key for success in the
world. As well, now just English it’s not enough, and just
knowing the language neither - it’s necessary to understand
the culture. as well. In this moment we can have access to an
international environment on the Internet and television but
again, it’s insufficient.
With this project we will bring international young people to
teach languages and culture in Costa Rica.
In this projects volunteers will have the opportunity to
develop classes for people interested in learning other
languages. With no age restrictions, the challenge will be
adapt the class for everyone having in mind there will be
different levels: from basic to medium.
The languages we will focus on will be English, Portuguese
and German.
