Increasing this chemical vessel's service life while decreasing the inspection and maintenance requirements allows our client to spend more time on manufacturing and less time on reliability and maintenance.
2. Project Summary
• Client: Chemical Plant – Brunswick, Georgia
• Project: Receiver Vessel - Internal/External Lining
• Dimensions: 36” dia x 120” long
• Operating Environment: The service environment is aluminum
chloride slurry at ambient temperature. The key areas of failure are at
the top in the vapor space; perceivably due to condensation reacting
with the aluminum chloride to result in Hydrochloric Acid.
• Uncoated Service Life: 6-9 months time to first maintenance
• Specification:
1) Abrasive Blast to SSPC SP10, 2.0 mils profile
2) Apply Polyglass PPA holding primer
3) Hand apply Polyglass VEHA coating at welds and nozzles
4) Spray apply Polyglass VEF to achieve 48 mils min dft.
• Duration: 5 Days
• Proposed Service Life: 20+ years
