The Race Day plan from Race Day Ninja Crisp McDonald. In addition to supporting timers, Crisp has been a pioneer in hybrid events, and will break down everything from start line management to virtual results - and how timers and race directors can work together for a successful event.
Using the RaceDay Suite for Virtual Racesrunsignup
Today's virtual events range from purely virtual race anywhere without timing equipment events to a hybrid of traditional and virtual with flexible start time events. Successful virtual events are heavily reliant on technology, and time-strapped race directors are looking for timers to help them. This session will cover the ways timers can take advantage of the RaceDay Suite of tools for the full spectrum of virtual events. From no touch pre-race tools like registration, check-in, and dynamic bib assignments to an interactive real-time race day experience with virtual user submitted results, scored results with flexible start times, RaceJoy's mobile race day experience, and more. Timers will be empowered with the knowledge of technology crucial during this time and the ability to differentiate their services for virtual events.

3) Race setup is easier with race segment copying and distance checks between RaceDay and RunSignup.
4) Auto-saves, performance, and the scoring experience have all seen improvements like pausing multiple auto-saves and faster processing for large races.
As race directors look for alternatives to cancelling their events, a number of races are "going virtual". Virtual races have existed for years, but the process of changing a physical race to a virtual one (quickly) is new. We'll walk through the basics you'll need to consider as you go virtual, and make some recommendations for completing the transition quickly and communicating effectively with your runners.

Graspan: A Big Data System for Big Code AnalysisAftab Hussain
We built a disk-based parallel graph system, Graspan, that uses a novel edge-pair centric computation model to compute dynamic transitive closures on very large program graphs.
We implement context-sensitive pointer/alias and dataflow analyses on Graspan. An evaluation of these analyses on large codebases such as Linux shows that their Graspan implementations scale to millions of lines of code and are much simpler than their original implementations.
These analyses were used to augment the existing checkers; these augmented checkers found 132 new NULL pointer bugs and 1308 unnecessary NULL tests in Linux 4.4.0-rc5, PostgreSQL 8.3.9, and Apache httpd 2.2.18.

Need for Speed: Removing speed bumps from your Symfony projects ⚡️Łukasz Chruściel
No one wants their application to drag like a car stuck in the slow lane! Yet it’s all too common to encounter bumpy, pothole-filled solutions that slow the speed of any application. Symfony apps are not an exception.
In this talk, I will take you for a spin around the performance racetrack. We’ll explore common pitfalls - those hidden potholes on your application that can cause unexpected slowdowns. Learn how to spot these performance bumps early, and more importantly, how to navigate around them to keep your application running at top speed.
We will focus in particular on tuning your engine at the application level, making the right adjustments to ensure that your system responds like a well-oiled, high-performance race car.

Hand Rolled Applicative User ValidationCode KataPhilip Schwarz
Could you use a simple piece of Scala validation code (granted, a very simplistic one too!) that you can rewrite, now and again, to refresh your basic understanding of Applicative operators <*>, <*, *>?
The goal is not to write perfect code showcasing validation, but rather, to provide a small, rough-and ready exercise to reinforce your muscle-memory.
Despite its grandiose-sounding title, this deck consists of just three slides showing the Scala 3 code to be rewritten whenever the details of the operators begin to fade away.
The code is my rough and ready translation of a Haskell user-validation program found in a book called Finding Success (and Failure) in Haskell - Fall in love with applicative functors.

Understanding variable roles in code has been found to be helpful by students
in learning programming -- could variable roles help deep neural models in
performing coding tasks? We do an exploratory study.

3. Why Do We Need Corrals?
3
▷ As races begin returning, whenever that may be,
there will likely be limitations on number of
participants in gathering areas. Wave or Time
Trial starts are a great way to manage this.
▷ Help control congestion and support social
distancing
▷ Expanded race dates and then apply scheduled
corral times for virtual events that use set
course paths.
○ This is ideal for events that have a higher
number of people or city officials asking for
extra ways to support social distancing.
4. Why Do We Need Corrals?
4
▷ Races could have multiple courses and have people sign up for the courses
with a cap on registration for each course.
○ This would be more for those events that have a high number of participants
Course Option 1 Course Option 2
5. Why Use RunSignup Corral
Management?
5
▷ Syncs with entire RaceDay Suite for
timing/scoring/check-in
▷ Can be set to automatically assign
by estimated finish time question
when an athlete registers
○ No need to manually assign later
▷ Can be imported as needed via CSV
▷ Can monitor number of athletes in
each corral as they register
6. Where in RunSignup Can I Setup Corrals?
6
▷ Go Race Day
○ Corrals
■ Set Up Corrals
■ Assign Corrals
10. Display in the CheckIn App
10
▷ Allows for volunteers to confirm Corral
▷ For Triathlons this can be used to clearly
define what color cap should be
distributed
○ Change the name of the Corral to
include what info you want to display
18. RaceJoy and Corrals
18
▷ Only applicable for races that are listed as regular
events NOT virtual
○ You DO NOT need to click this box if the event is
set up for virtual
▷ Setting allows for longer than normal window for
athletes to start
