The document describes virtual challenge events, which allow participants to complete activities like running miles or pushups over a period of time to reach a goal. It provides examples of challenges and how race directors can use tools to set them up, track participant progress, and add optional maps. Finally, it discusses strategies for promoting challenges through email marketing, referrals, teams, Facebook ads, and influencers to engage participants and drive registration.
Earlier on Wednesday, we introduced virtual challenges and the key features for creating an engaging virtual challenge. In this session, deep dive into the setup specifications for various unique challenges - including multi-sport and team-based challenges.
Virtual and Flexible Start Results for Timersrunsignup
This document discusses options for virtual and flexible race starts using RaceDay Scoring timers to manage registration, check-in, bib assignment, and results for races with open or staggered start/finish lines. It provides examples of traditional, hybrid, and purely virtual race formats and how features like corral assignment, gap timing, and RaceJoy integration allow for virtual and flexible start experiences while still providing official results. Upcoming training sessions are also announced for RaceDay Scoring, RaceJoy certification, and the RaceDay Suite license.
This document introduces new features for virtual challenges on the RunSignup platform, including milestones, badges, teams, goals and activity types. It describes how milestones allow participants to track intermediate progress towards goals, and unlock badges. Badges can be default or custom designs. Goals provide progress bars and teams allow groups to compete together. The platform also supports various activity types and custom types for unique challenges. These features aim to make virtual challenges more engaging for participants.
The document provides an overview and update on new features for RaceDay Scoring timing software. Key points include:
1) Open-ended timing allows races to occur over long periods like hours or days, and new features make managing overlapping start/finish times easier.
2) Participant data handling has improved with team name importing, custom fields, and auto-capitalization of names.
3) Race setup is easier with race segment copying and distance checks between RaceDay and RunSignup.
4) Auto-saves, performance, and the scoring experience have all seen improvements like pausing multiple auto-saves and faster processing for large races.
As race directors look for alternatives to cancelling their events, a number of races are "going virtual". Virtual races have existed for years, but the process of changing a physical race to a virtual one (quickly) is new. We'll walk through the basics you'll need to consider as you go virtual, and make some recommendations for completing the transition quickly and communicating effectively with your runners.

Finding Efficiencies in Your Development LifecycleTechWell
Many of us feel like we never have enough time to complete everything we want in a given sprint, cycle, or phase. Even though we can't add more hours to our day, we can add time by removing inefficiencies in our development lifecycle management approach. Melissa Tondi explores a number of areas that may be causing inefficiencies in our overall approach. These problem areas include acceptance criteria for requirements that are not understood, actionable, or demonstrable; unit tests that are misunderstood or non-existent; and demos that don’t actually demonstrate capability. Melissa shares practical solutions that can be implemented quickly. Share your previous inefficiencies and your solutions. Once you have a plan to reduce or eliminate the inefficiencies, you can spend more time in your overall development schedule—and effectively add more time to accomplish what you need to do.

Agile2022 What parkrun has taught me 2022-07-18.pdfMia Horrigan
’ve been doing Parkrun for a year now. Yes, I’m one of those crazy people that get up early every saturday morning and run 5 Kms with 166490 parkrunners across 20 countries and 1637 locations. After a while, something interesting happened, I was asked to explain estimation to a group of people new to agile ways of working and found that I could explain relative estimation by using my Parkrun experience with my friends.
The requirement is the same – run a distance of 5 kms. However, the time taken will vary widely between runners. Even though the parkrun is a set 5kms, it takes our whole group to finish anywhere between 20 – 55 mins. So why don’t we all finish at the same time? Well, there are a number of factors to consider including our fitness, age, equipment and expertise at running as well as the complexity of the course. The same is true with estimations for work products. There is natural variability between estimates by people based on context, team members capability and so forth.
As a Professional Scrum Trainer (PST), I have found Parkrun anecdotes a relatable way to explain some complex concepts such as velocity, pairing, relative estimation, sprinting, sustainable pace and more. This presentation is for people wanting to understand agile principles as it will share these and other training tips and techniques that you can use with your teams.
The document discusses transitioning from a traditional waterfall testing model to an agile testing model. It advocates focusing on the needs of the customer rather than rigid processes and deliverables. An effective agile testing approach focuses on relationships, lightweight processes, transparency, and making testing work visible. Testers should avoid the "cargo cult" trap of using old procedures just because and should continuously review and improve testing practices.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

HCL Notes and Domino License Cost Reduction in the World of DLAUpanagenda
Webinar Recording: https://www.panagenda.com/webinars/hcl-notes-and-domino-license-cost-reduction-in-the-world-of-dlau/
The introduction of DLAU and the CCB & CCX licensing model caused quite a stir in the HCL community. As a Notes and Domino customer, you may have faced challenges with unexpected user counts and license costs. You probably have questions on how this new licensing approach works and how to benefit from it. Most importantly, you likely have budget constraints and want to save money where possible. Don’t worry, we can help with all of this!
We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away

5. Two main types of Challenges
Before you decide to get started setting up
your Challenge, it’s important to spend some
time to think about how you want it to work.
We find that there are two main types of
Challenges being set up now, Fixed Distance
Challenges and Open-Ended Challenges.
Each of these options has unique setup
requirements, so it’s good to know what you
want to accomplish before you start setting
things up!
5
6. Two main types of Challenges
OPEN ENDED
These are Events where there is
no defined end goal for all
Participants.
A good example of this is an
event where the goal is to simply
log as many runs as you can,
and participants are ranked
based on who accumulates the
most mileage.
FIXED DISTANCE
These are Events where there is a
defined end goal for all
Participants.
A good example of this is an event
where the goal is to run the length
of a state by adding up the total
distance of many runs, and
participants are ranked based on
who reaches the end goal first.
6
7. Two main types of Challenges
In either case, Open Ended or Fixed Distance, you can always use
different parameters for the Challenge.
For instance, instead of trying to achieve an end goal of running
the length of New Jersey, it may be to accumulate the height of
Mt. Everest in total elevation gain.
Or instead of running as many miles as you can, it could just be try
to accumulate the most amount of time.
In addition, you can also set up multiple Activity Types which allow
participants to log things like bike rides, walks, and more.
7
9. What are your options?
Challenges can be sorted in many ways, and
the best recommendation depends on the type
of Challenge that you’re setting up.
❖ Greatest distance?
❖ Most elevation gain?
❖ Lowest time?
❖ Fastest pace?
❖ First to reach a milestone?
9
10. Our Recommendations
OPEN ENDED
For Events that do not have a defined
end goal, we recommend one of the
options that sort results based on the
greatest amount of something.
For instance these are great options for
an Open-Ended Challenge:
● Greatest distance
● Most elevation gain
● Greatest time
● Fastest pace
FIXED DISTANCE
For Events where you want to award
those who reach the end goal first, we
always recommend using the Earliest
Milestone Completion Date option.
What this will do is always sort results
with the first person to reach some
defined distance you have for this Event,
even if someone else ends up logging
more mileage they will not jump ahead
because they have a greater total
distance.
10
11. Critical Setup Items
Today we’ll walk through the most critical
steps of setting up and operating a Challenge.
❖ Creating a Challenge from Scratch
❖ Setting up Activity Types
❖ Setting up Milestones
❖ Results Sorting Options
❖ Testing and Troubleshooting
11
12. Race Creation
❖ Selecting Virtual Challenge as the Event Type
❖ Understanding the Submission Period
❖ Setting up as a Draft Race so you can test it out yourself
❖ Verifying basic setup under Virtual Results Settings

14. Milestones
❖ If you are setting up a fixed distance challenge, we always
recommend setting up an Overall Milestone that
represents the finish distance.
○ This allows you to sort based on who has completed the
challenge first based on the date that they have unlocked
that Milestone.
❖ If you are setting up an open ended challenge, Milestones
are not required, but can be a great way to motivate
participants to keep logging activities.
