This study tested a novel training program to recalibrate perceptions of body size in women with high body concerns and in women with atypical anorexia nervosa (aAN). In Study 1, women with high body concerns were randomly assigned to intervention or control groups. The intervention group underwent four daily training sessions where they judged body sizes and received feedback to improve accuracy. This significantly improved their body size judgements and reduced body and eating concerns compared to controls. In Study 2, the training also recalibrated judgements in women with aAN and reduced their body size and eating concerns. The training shows potential as a valuable addition to traditional therapies for treating body image disturbances.

It hypothesizes that since stress is commonly co-occurring with eating disorders, reducing stress through yoga may also benefit eating disorder patients. The study would recruit local yoga studio participants and use a pre-/post-test design to analyze if yoga decreases stress scores. If successful, it provides preliminary evidence that yoga may help address the disconnect between mind and body experienced by many with eating disorders.
Effect of Yoga on Anxiety: An Interventional study
Regular practice of yoga promotes strength, endurance, flexibility and facilitates characteristics of friendliness, compassion & self-control. So this study was conducted to find out the effect of yoga on anxiety. This study was conducted on 200 anxiety cases having age range of 18 to 55 years. Hamilton anxiety scale was used to measure the anxiety. These cases were divide into two group randomly i.e. study group and control group. Study group was given certain set of yogic exercise. Both the groups were followed and results were compared where independent variables yoga and dependent variable Anxiety was used. Chi-square, independent t test, was used for data analysis. It was observed that Anxiety was significantly decreased after the yogic intervention (P=0.042S). So it can be concluded that yoga can reduce perceived stress improve well-being even more significantly so its recommend to do yoga regularly.

This document summarizes a study that examined the relationship between body image disturbance, body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), and behavioral principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP). The study hypothesized that higher levels of body image disturbance would be correlated with greater experiential avoidance (as measured by ACT principles) and difficulties expressing emotions interpersonally (as measured by FAP principles). Results supported these hypotheses and also found that experiential avoidance and interpersonal expression difficulties predicted meeting criteria for BDD and severity of BDD symptoms. The study provides empirical support for integrating intrapersonal and interpersonal conceptualizations of body image issues.

It was tested on 82 female schoolteachers randomly assigned to training or wait-list control groups. Assessments before, after, and 5 months post-training found that compared to controls, the training group reported reduced negative affect and increased positive affect, mindfulness, and prosocial responses. They also showed enhanced ability to recognize emotions in others, reduced physiological stress responses, and less hostile behavior, with most effects maintained at follow-up. The results suggest that treatment gains may not be sustained long-term if end-of-treatment scores on catastrophizing and fear of pain remain elevated.

Body image, eating disorders, self-esteem, and muscularity are all very significant and pressing issues facing adolescents and young adults. Changing bad behavioral can sometimes be a difficult process. One of the best ways to stay on track is to monitor the behaviors. “Self-monitoring is a systematic observation and recording of target behavior and is the most effective technique of behavioral treatment” (Burgard & Gallagher, 2006). A health behavior other than exercise that can help an individual to lead a better lifestyle is improving nutritional intake. A self-monitoring scale is essential in measuring compliance to the dietary plan. The aim of initiating this desirable health behavior is to help me understand my dietary status in order to identify the possible nature, extent, and occurrence of impaired nutritional status. I believe that understanding my dietary status will aid me in preventing the incidence of some lifestyle diseases such as obesity, hypertension and diabetes. Apart from self-monitoring, other current behavioral assessment techniques include behavioral interviews, self-report behavioral inventories and cognitive behavioral assessment techniques. Articulating my self-monitoring scale for healthy dieting and analyzing some of the behavioral assessment techniques can help to create a better understanding about their effectiveness in promoting the desired health behaviors.
Self-Monitoring Scale for Healthy Dieting
The self-monitoring will entail observing and recording my eating patterns over a period of three months in order to get concrete feedback that I can use to take corrective measures where I feel there is an impaired nutritional status. Throughout the period, I will use labels found on the food packaging to record and monitor the levels of caloric intake in the beverages or food that I consume. The scale highlights the compulsory dietary requirements that I should consume on a daily or weekly basis, and will serve to complement my daily food diaries. Through the scale, I will be able to increase self-awareness about the target behaviors and realization of outcomes.

Research question: “Does self-disclosure of the therapist improve eating disorder treatment.”
Hypothesis: Self-disclosure of the therapist improves eating disorder treatment.
Information On Research
The key variables for this research are self-disclosure of the therapist and eating disorder treatment. This research will focus on online research whereby participants will be recruited from an eating disorder charity database. The participants will be asked about the status of their condition and how they feel about having the disorder. The neutral condition will be that the therapists will disclose their sexuality and their feelings towards the patients’ conditions and personality (Marziliano, Pessin, Rosenfeld, & Breitbart, 2018).
Process of Study
The study will continue for two months with the therapists making contact with the participants once every week. These conditions will form the independent variables. The dependent variable would be participants continued to receive positive self-disclosures from the therapist leading to a greater level of patient self-disclosure, which lowered their shame, and encouraged the participants to continue with the treatment process. The participants will also be asked if they have been involved in any treatment before, and how they could describe their therapeutic alliance (Fuertes, Moore, & Ganley, 2018).
A longitudinal study and the rate of drop-out will be used to gather more information about the participants. The collected data will then be analyzed in relation to the independent variables by the end of the study. One of the ethical issues, which will be looked into while conducting the study, is informed consent. Participants will be informed about the purpose of the research and will have the right to participate or not participate in it. Secondly, the research will ensure the privacy and confidentiality of every participant.
Annotated Bibliography:
Secrecy and concealment are typical behaviors in individuals with eating problems. In the article titled “ Self-Disclosure in eating disorders,” researchers examined women with greater related eating issues and determined whether or not, these women would be willing to disclose information. In this study, different types of disclosure were calculated considering the body appearance of the individual and to restrained eating. Attachment-Based Interventions And Eating Related Disorders In Females

Stress is a constant encountered part of everyday life. If not managed, it can manifest with harmful effects on the physical and psychological health of the affected individual. From the case scenario, physiological, behavioral and self-report methods can be important for measuring my stress levels. The stress experienced mainly stems from maladaptive thoughts such as constant worries, feelings of helplessness and unrealistic expectations. These thoughts can subject me to chronic depression if I do not take effective and timely measures to guard against them. Evidence-based intervention methods that can aid me in reducing the stress levels include biofeedback, cognitive restructuring and emotional disclosure. It is worthwhile to note that cognitive behavioral approaches are effective in measuring stress and sleep deprivation because of their objectivity, validity, reliability and ease of use. This paper will provide a complete analysis of the methods for measuring stress, highlighting some maladaptive thoughts that might lead to increased stress and examines some evidence-based intervention methods for reducing stress. This paper concludes with a discussion about on the efficacy of cognitive behavioral approach in measuring stress and sleep problems.
Physiological, Behavioral and Self-Report Methods for Measuring Stress Level
To measure my stress levels, I will utilize various physiological, behavioral and self-report methods. The physiological measurements will use a small polygraph to monitor various arousal indicators. Through the use of this mechanical instrument, I will be able to take measurements such as heart rate, blood pressure, galvanic skin response (GSR) and respiratory rate, all of which are important determinants of an individual’s stress levels (Brannon & Feist, 2013). I will also evaluate my blood and urine samples for the level of hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. The two major classes of hormones that I will plan on analyzing include catecholamine and corticosteroids. According to Brannon & Feist (2013), some of the advantages of using physiological arousal measures include reliability, easy quantification, along with directness and high levels of objectivity.
The rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure and the shortness of breathe that I currently experiencing may be an indicator of high levels of stress. The other viable technique for measuring my stress level can be accomplished through the use of a self-report. This will involve developing a scale to monitor the impact of life events and hassles on my normal bodily functions. The Social Readjustment Rating Scale (SRRC) will be pertinent in this task. .

FINAL PAPER_Comparison of Treatment Methods for Anorexia Nervosa
This study aims to compare the effectiveness of different treatment methods for anorexia nervosa. Fifty participants diagnosed with anorexia nervosa will be randomly assigned to either a Maudsley model of family-based care or in-patient care. They will also be randomly assigned to receive anti-depressant medication or a placebo. Treatment involves four months of therapy with weekly weigh-ins and monthly mental health assessments. Previous research found family-based therapy to be most effective. The study hopes to determine if family-based care or medication leads to better outcomes, as measured by Global Assessment of Functioning scores.

This paper focuses on the integration of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in the treatment of
eating disorders. Although CBT is regarded as the treatment of choice in this population, it nevertheless has limitations: some patients fail
to engage, drop out from treatment prematurely, or simply do not improve. These are common problems in a population characterized by
high levels of ambivalence about change. MI strategies can assist clinicians in enhancing readiness for change, tailoring interventions to
patient readiness status, and maintaining a therapeutic alliance throughout all stages of treatment. Preliminary research examining the
efficacy of adaptations of MI in the treatment of individuals with eating disorders has been promising. This paper presents 4 patient
scenarios involving individuals with varying degrees of readiness and in the context of different treatment settings. For each patient
scenario, key issues are described and common roadblocks to developing or maintaining a therapeutic alliance are provided. Vignettes
illustrate conversations between the patient and therapist for each scenario, highlighting how MI techniques can be integrated into CBT
treatment and promote a working therapeutic relationship that enhances long-term treatment outcome.
MILLIONS of individuals every year are affected byeating disorders: anorexia nervosa (AN), bulimia
nervosa (BN), and binge eating disorder (BED). Lifetime
prevalence for AN is approximately 0.5% to 1% for
females and .1% to .3% for males; lifetime prevalence for
BN is approximately 1% to 3% for females and .5% to 2%
for males; and lifetime prevalence for BED is approxi-
mately 2% to 5%, with no marked gender difference
(Dingemans, Bruna, & van Furth, 2002; Hudson, Hiripi,
Pope, & Kessler, 2007; Striegel-Moore, 2000; Woodside et al.,
2001). An even larger number of individuals suffer from
what is currently categorized as Eating Disorder Not
Otherwise Specified (EDNOS), which is best described as
a residual category for eating disorders of clinical severity
that do not meet diagnostic criteria for AN or BN
(Fairburn, 2008).
Eating disorders are characterized by serious distur-
bances in eating, such as binge eating, fasting, and
purging (i.e., engaging in compensatory weight control
behaviors), as well as subjective distress and excessive
concern about body shape and weight. These behaviors
are associated with a number of physical and psycholog-
ical consequences. Physical consequences include amen-

Assessment of the Residual Issues Regarding Self
The document discusses how eating disorders affect adolescent self-concept during and after recovery. It finds that relapse rates for bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder are high at 41% and 33% respectively, indicating unresolved self-concept issues. Recovery from binge-purge disorders is especially difficult due to lack of emotional regulation skills. Patients experience conflicting views of their identity and treatment facilities, which can influence relapse. Recovery tends to be slower for anorexia nervosa subtypes and those with high levels of thought-shape and thought-action fusion. Estas diretrizes visam melhorar a qualidade dos cuidados pós-natais essenciais e de rotina prestados às mulheres e aos recém-nascidos, com o objetivo final de melhorar a saúde e o bem-estar materno e neonatal.
Uma “experiência pós-natal positiva” é um resultado importante para todas as mulheres que dão à luz e para os seus recém-nascidos, estabelecendo as bases para a melhoria da saúde e do bem-estar a curto e longo prazo. Uma experiência pós-natal positiva é definida como aquela em que as mulheres, pessoas que gestam, os recém-nascidos, os casais, os pais, os cuidadores e as famílias recebem informação consistente, garantia e apoio de profissionais de saúde motivados; e onde um sistema de saúde flexível e com recursos reconheça as necessidades das mulheres e dos bebês e respeite o seu contexto cultural.
Estas diretrizes consolidadas apresentam algumas recomendações novas e já bem fundamentadas sobre cuidados pós-natais de rotina para mulheres e neonatos que recebem cuidados no pós-parto em unidades de saúde ou na comunidade, independentemente dos recursos disponíveis.
É fornecido um conjunto abrangente de recomendações para cuidados durante o período puerperal, com ênfase nos cuidados essenciais que todas as mulheres e recém-nascidos devem receber, e com a devida atenção à qualidade dos cuidados; isto é, a entrega e a experiência do cuidado recebido. Estas diretrizes atualizam e ampliam as recomendações da OMS de 2014 sobre cuidados pós-natais da mãe e do recém-nascido e complementam as atuais diretrizes da OMS sobre a gestão de complicações pós-natais.
