On Analyzing and Developing Data Contracts in Cloud-based Data MarketplacesHong-Linh Truong
Currently, rich and diverse data types have been
increasingly provided using the Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) model,
a form of cloud computing services. However, data offered by
DaaS are constrained by several data concerns that, if not
automatically being reasoned properly, will lead to a wrong way
of using them. In this paper, we support the assumption that
data concerns should be explicitly modeled and specified in data
contracts to support concern-aware data selection and utilization.
Instead of relying on a specific definition of data contracts, we
analyze contemporary data contracts and we present an abstract
model for data contracts. Based on the abstract model, we
propose several techniques for evaluating data contracts that
can be integrated into data service selection and composition
frameworks. We also illustrate our approach with some realworld
scenarios.
This document summarizes the work of the ENVRIPLUS project, which developed reusable solutions to common challenges faced by environmental research infrastructures (RIs). It produced the ENVRI Reference Model (RM) and OIL-e to support interoperability. It established a knowledge base and service portfolio of reusable solutions. Current challenges include operational issues like authentication, deployment and maintenance, as well as enabling interdisciplinary science through effective virtual research environments, optimization of data processing, and ensuring long-term sustainability.
This document summarizes a presentation on the resilience of transaction-oriented networks. It describes a model of a random transaction network and simulations examining how the network's performance is affected by node capacity, density, and failures from overloading or faulty nodes. The key findings are that the network exhibits four phases depending on traffic load and failures, and that doubling node capacity can nearly quadruple throughput. Additionally, excessive traffic and node failures have an almost linear and equivalent impact on resilience.

Energy-efficient device-to-device communication in internet of things using ...IJECEIAES
Device-to-device (D2D) communication has grown into notoriety as a critical component of the internet of things (IoT). One of the primary limitations of IoT devices is restricted battery source. D2D communication is the direct contact between the participating devices that improves the data rate and delivers the data quickly by consuming less battery. An energy-efficient communication method is required to enhance the communication lifetime of the network by reducing the node energy dissipation. The clustering-based D2D communication method is maximally acceptable to boom the durability of a network. The oscillating spider monkey optimization (OSMO) and oscillating particle swarm optimization (OPSO) algorithms are used in this study to improve the selection of cluster heads (CHs) and routing paths for D2D communication. The CHs and D2D communication paths are selected depending on the parameters such as energy consumption, distance, end-to-end delay, link quality and hop count. A simulation environment is designed to evaluate and test the performance of the OSMO-OPSO algorithm with existing D2D communication algorithms (such as the GAPSO-H algorithm, adaptive resource-aware splitlearning (ARES), bio-inspired cluster-based routing scheme (Bi-CRS), and European society for medical oncology (ESMO) algorithm). The results proved that the proposed technique outperformed with respect to traditional routing strategies regarding latency, packet delivery, energy efficiency, and network lifetime.

Fog Computing – Enhancing the Maximum Energy Consumption of Data Servers.dbpublications
Fog Computing and IoT systems make use of end-user premises devices as local servers. Here, we are identifying the scenarios for which running applications from NDCs are more energy-efficient than running the same applications from MDC. With the complete survey and analysis of various energy consumption factors such as different flow-variants and time-variants with respect to the Network Equipment we found two energy consumption use cases and respective results. Parameters such as current Load, Pmax, Cmax, Incremental Energy etc evolved with respect to system structure and various data related parameters leading to the conclusion that the NDC utilizes relatively reduced factor of energy comparative to the MDC. The study reveals that NDC as a part of Fog makeweights the MDCs to accompany respective applications, especially in the scenarios where IoT based applications are used where end users are the source data providers and can maximize the server utilization.

Machine Learning for Multimedia and Edge Information Processing.pptxssuserf3a100
The advancements and progress in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, and the numerous availabilities of mobile devices and Internet technologies together with the growing focus on multimedia data sources and information processing have led to the emergence of new paradigms for multimedia and edge AI information processing, particularly for urban and smart city environments. Compared to cloud information processing approaches where the data are collected and sent to a centralized server for information processing, the edge information processing paradigm distributes the tasks to multiple devices which are close to the data source. Edge information processing techniques and approaches are well suited to match current technologies for Internet of Things (IoT) and autonomous systems, although there are many challenges which remain to be addressed.
Edge Computing (EC) is a new architecture that extends Cloud Computing (CC) services closer to data sources. EC combined with Deep Learning (DL) is a promising technology and is widely used in several applications.

STEAM++ AN EXTENSIBLE END-TO-END FRAMEWORK FOR DEVELOPING IOT DATA PROCESSING...ijcsit
IoT applications usually rely on cloud computing services to perform data analysis such as filtering, aggregation, classification, pattern detection, and prediction. When applied to specific domains, the IoT needs to deal with unique constraints. Besides the hostile environment such as vibration and electricmagnetic interference, resulting in malfunction, noise, and data loss, industrial plants often have Internet access restricted or unavailable, forcing us to design stand-alone fog and edge computing solutions. In this context, we present STEAM++, a lightweight and extensible framework for real-time data stream processing and decision-making in the network edge, targeting hardware-limited devices, besides proposing a micro-benchmark methodology for assessing embedded IoT applications. In real-case experiments in a semiconductor industry, we processed an entire data flow, from values sensing, processing and analysing data, detecting relevant events, and finally, publishing results to a dashboard. On average, the application consumed less than 500kb RAM and 1.0% of CPU usage, processing up to 239 data packets per second and reducing the output data size to 14% of the input raw data size when notifying events.
