Content strategy can help you plan for great content right from the start of a project. This workshop demystifies the content production workflow – how it’s commissioned, created, measured and maintained – talks a bit about governance, and provides some practical tips and tools to help plan and manage content, whether you’re from an agency or in-house.

Marketing, as we know it, is being transformed right in front of our eyes. More and more messages are being promoted every day, on more channels, and as a result, consumers are learning to simply tune out the noise.
Because of this, brands must leverage content marketing to deliver the useful information necessary to educate and build trust with their audiences. But they often fail to document what they are trying to achieve, how they will get it done, and what measures will prove success.
Yesterday I presented to more than 600 attendees of the NewsCred #ThinkContent Webinar: "How To Plan And Build A Successful Content Marketing Strategy." I presented:

Presented at DocTrain East 2007 Conference by Harvey Greenberg, XyEnterprise -- Just one of DITA’s many amazing attributes is how much power it provides, while at its core remaining quite simple. Simple though it is, DITA still requires good planning, good execution, and good project management to bring it all together. After feedback has been received from your peer group and course instructor, you are
responsible for making appropriate changes and reflecting upon these changes from initial draft to
final submitted draft. This assignment is reflective in nature and you are not expected to quote
assigned reading or course content. Instead, think about the assignment holistically and trace
your drafting stages from beginning to final product.
Our personal identities and experiences affect how we view ourselves as writers, and we need a
certain level of self-awareness as writers in order to recognize the power and control we have to
guide how we compose texts. This Revision Narrative Worksheet should help you approach two
outcomes: demonstrating motivated decision-making and revision throughout an ongoing process
of composition and articulating connections between one’s identity and experiences and the
rhetorical choices one makes. As you answer the questions on this worksheet, narrate how your
awareness and decisions changed across the revision process for this project. Notes:
• Be as specific as possible about the realizations and decisions you narrate, but don’t feel
like you have to include every little thing you realized or did.
• The “work on your own” category is where you can describe steps you took to revise
beyond the required steps I ask you to complete. It could include additional exercises you
did on your own outside of class, visits to academic resource centers, things you applied
based on any readings, feedback you solicited from someone outside of class, etc. Either
replace the “work on your own” box with a description of what you did or delete those rows
if you’re not using them.
• To successfully complete this Revision Narrative worksheet, your answers should do the
following:
o demonstrate the use of a variety of revision strategies

Cross-Functional Code Reviews - As presented at O'Reilly OSCON 2019
While nearly every development team uses some form of code review, code reviews are frequently used only among developers. While other developers are certainly a valuable audience for your code, nondevelopers can also add value by applying their own perspectives to the work as early on in the process as possible.
Margaret Fero explores the benefits of having representatives from the product management, technical documentation, instructional design, user interface design, and user experience teams on your code review from the start, rather than starting with just developers and adding other teams’ considerations later in the process. A code review is cross-functional if it includes not just members from other teams but also acceptance and implementation of the different types of feedback. She suggests different functional roles that could be included in a code review and what each role can add to the overall success of the review. Margaret explains the benefits of different perspectives and general best practices for choosing your code reviewers (either at the process development level or implementation level) and addresses some relevant change management issues.

The Increasing Criticality of MDM for Personalization for Customers and Employees
Master data management seems to be one of those perennial, evergreen programs that organizations continue to struggle with.
Every couple of years people say, “we're going to get a handle on our master data” and then spend hundreds of thousands to millions and tens of millions of dollars working toward a solution.
The challenge is that many of these solutions are not really getting to the root cause of the problem. They start with technology and begin by looking at specific data elements rather than looking at the business concepts that are important to the organization.
MDM programs are also difficult to anchor on a specific business value proposition such as improving the top line. Many initiatives are so deep in the weeds and so far upstream that executives lose interest and they lose faith in the business value that the project promises. Meanwhile frustrated data analysts, data architects and technology organizations feel cut off at the knees because they can't get the funding, support and attention that they need to be successful.
We've seen this time after time and until senior executives recognize the value and envision where the organization can go with control over its data across domains, this will continue to happen over and over again. Executives all nod their heads and say “Yes! Data is important, really important!” But when they see the price tag they say, “Whoa hold on there, it's not that important”.
Well, actually, it is that important.
We can't forget that under all of the systems, processes and shiny new technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning lies data. And that data is more important than the algorithm. If you have bad data your AI is not going to be able to fix it. Yes there are data remediation applications and there are mechanisms to harmonize or normalize certain data elements. But looking at this holistically requires human judgment: understanding business processes, understanding data flows, understanding dependencies and understanding of the entire customer experience ecosystem and the role of upstream tools, technologies and processes that enable that customer experience.
Until we take that holistic approach and connect it to business value these things are not going to get the time, attention and resources that they need.

Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
