How effective is spoken language?
Spoken language can be an effective way to communicate knowledge, as demonstrated by an exercise where one person described images for their blindfolded partner to draw. However, spoken language also faces limitations, as descriptions require clear and shared understanding of vocabulary, and knowledge related to abstract concepts or processes may be harder to convey solely through words. Overall, while spoken language allowed knowledge sharing in drawing simple images, its effectiveness depends on the topic and ability to clarify any misunderstandings that arise.

Ethnography of an Indigenous Culture
This activity is a good way to demonstrate what you have learned in this course. Be sure to choose an indigenous culture that you find interesting. Read all directions and ask questions if you have them.
To successfully complete this activity, you will need to consult:
· your textbook
· Web sites -- no encyclopedia!
· Contact your instructor at least three weeks before this assignment to make sure you have chosen an indigenous group. Numerous students have made mistakes in understanding what is meant by indigenous. Please review your readings. It is also best to NOT choose a group in the United States (they have assimilated to U.S. Culture and it can be difficult to write paper).
You will be constructing an ethnography of an indigenous culture of your choice. To help you choose an indigenous culture, I would recommend starting at these websites:

I must approve your choice by the fourth week of the semester. This is not an activity you will want to procrastinate on.
This acivity is a capstone experience for you. It is critical that you demonstrate you can use as many concepts from our course as possible. You are to apply as many ideas you have learned from the textbook, videos, and websites as possible. Underline each concept you use from the text! While firsthand knowledge of a culture is valuable, you must use academic resources for this activity.
When you submit your activity, type out the question and then your response. You will not need to organize your work into the traditional style for a paper. It is your job to "flesh out" the indigenous culture you have chosen. By the time you have finished, someone who knows nothing about your indigenous culture should be able to truly understand it.

General Questionnaire for students
The participants are asked to complete a questionnaire to evaluate the skills gained from their participation in the Erasmus+ program. They are to rate their skills on a scale of 1 to 5 in areas such as journalistic competences, language ability, communication, technology use, and knowledge of partner countries' history, culture, geography and social issues. Think about specific situations in which a miscommunication occurred that you believe was based
on a communication style disconnect of some kind.
Defining Communication Style
Communication style is the way in which we communicate, a pattern of verbal and nonverbal
behaviors that comprises our preferred ways of giving and receiving information in a specific
situation. If the message content is the what and the communicators the who, then communication
style is the how. Communication style includes, for example, how we accomplish the following
tasks:
1. Organize and present information and like it to be organized
2. Encourage and like to be encouraged
3. Agree or disagree with others’ ideas and prefer agreement or lack thereof to be
communicated
4. Build relationships, trust, and intimacy with others
5. Communicate politeness and perceive politeness to be communicated
6. Negotiate and prefer to be negotiated with
7. Establish credibility
8. Approach, manage, and resolve conflict
9. Make decisions and solve problems
10. Interrupt and prefer to be interrupted

Based on our definition and the preceding list, you can see that communication style is broad in
scope, and as such it encompasses many specific patterns we engage in every day. Our belief is that
these patterns are not universally accepted rules of human interaction; instead, communication style
preferences reflect our personal and cultural upbringings. Even simple nonverbal behaviors that we
may consider “natural” are typically learned. People all over the world smile and use eye contact,
but they do so in different ways and for different purposes. Answers to the following questions, all
about communication style, vary by culture as well as by individual and specific context:
How do you show respect to those with whom you are communicating? One person
might look someone directly in the eye to show respect, while another averts eye

Effective communication is the key to healthy relationships, whether personal or professional. Clear and effective communication is essential for success in any career or industry, but even more so for health care where people’s lives are at stake. This week you will be introduced to the elements of the communication process. One of these elements is perception. Perception is how we become aware of objects, events, people, and their behaviors. Our perception can be shaped by our background and personal experiences, which may lead to issues in how we perceive certain things. Although perception is often overlooked in everyday conversations with others, it is a fundamental process in all communication. We must examine effective ways to perceive situations accurately to improve our interpersonal and work relationships.
Although cross-cultural communication is not new, global communication has become easier and more accessible because of the internet and other new technologies. Effective intercultural communication helps avoid conflict, prevent misunderstandings, and foster respect in the workplace. Communication between individuals of different cultures is successful when we learn to create cultural bridges. These bridges require an understanding of other cultures and our personal values. There are many cultural barriers in a typical diverse workplace. Besides differences in language, other factors challenge people who are trying to work with others from a different background. We must learn how to move beyond stereotypes and understand the differences in people.

The effects of learner characteristics and beliefs on usage of ASR-CALL systems
Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) has seen a rise in recent years of software applications that use Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) to provide pronunciation feedback for language learners. ASR-CALL systems process large amounts of natural language data to provide immediate and individual feedback on the pronunciation accuracy of recorded learner utterances. In order for ASR-CALL systems to be implemented successfully and become effective tools for pronunciation training, understanding learner beliefs and perceptions about pronunciation and technology is key. While recent studies have investigated levels of learner satisfaction and engagement with ASR-CALL systems, little research has been done to date which investigates specific learner characteristics and beliefs which affect learner usage of ASR-CALL systems.
Wall Street English (WSE) currently has over 180,000 learners in 28 countries, and provides adult learners with a bespoke, blended-learning programme where students complete self-study interactive multimedia lessons before attending teacher-led classes. WSE have built activities within the multimedia self-study component of the course that allow students to record phrases and receive word-level ASR-driven feedback on pronunciation accuracy. For the current study, all students enrolled in selected WSE centres in China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Italy had the opportunity over a four week period to complete these CALL-ASR activities. Students were able to retry each phrase a number of times in order to improve their pronunciation, received ASR-driven feedback on each retry, and were provided with a model audio with which to compare their own recorded attempts. The data presented in this study is drawn from three sources: an analysis of the anonymised study data from the 2,867 students from the countries mentioned above; survey data from 485 of these students; and individual qualitative interviews with 58 of these students.

I was hoping you would be able to put together an Effective Communication training for them to help get everyone back on the right track." There are 10 project coordinators in the IT department. Two of the project coordinator's are in the organization's Bangkok office. Tim wants the training to last no longer than 4 hours and wants it to be face to face in a class room with you, the trainer. The effects of learner characteristics and beliefs on usage of ASR-CALL systems
Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) has seen a rise in recent years of software applications that use Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) to provide pronunciation feedback for language learners. ASR-CALL systems process large amounts of natural language data to provide immediate and individual feedback on the pronunciation accuracy of recorded learner utterances. In order for ASR-CALL systems to be implemented successfully and become effective tools for pronunciation training, understanding learner beliefs and perceptions about pronunciation and technology is key. While recent studies have investigated levels of learner satisfaction and engagement with ASR-CALL systems, little research has been done to date which investigates specific learner characteristics and beliefs which affect learner usage of ASR-CALL systems.
Wall Street English (WSE) currently has over 180,000 learners in 28 countries, and provides adult learners with a bespoke, blended-learning programme where students complete self-study interactive multimedia lessons before attending teacher-led classes. WSE have built activities within the multimedia self-study component of the course that allow students to record phrases and receive word-level ASR-driven feedback on pronunciation accuracy. For the current study, all students enrolled in selected WSE centres in China, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Italy had the opportunity over a four week period to complete these CALL-ASR activities. Students were able to retry each phrase a number of times in order to improve their pronunciation, received ASR-driven feedback on each retry, and were provided with a model audio with which to compare their own recorded attempts. The data presented in this study is drawn from three sources: an analysis of the anonymised study data from the 2,867 students from the countries mentioned above; survey data from 485 of these students; and individual qualitative interviews with 58 of these students.

This document provides an overview of wound healing, its functions, stages, mechanisms, factors affecting it, and complications.
A wound is a break in the integrity of the skin or tissues, which may be associated with disruption of the structure and function.
Healing is the body’s response to injury in an attempt to restore normal structure and functions.
Healing can occur in two ways: Regeneration and Repair
There are 4 phases of wound healing: hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. This document also describes the mechanism of wound healing. Factors that affect healing include infection, uncontrolled diabetes, poor nutrition, age, anemia, the presence of foreign bodies, etc.
Complications of wound healing like infection, hyperpigmentation of scar, contractures, and keloid formation.
