Laptops regularly go missing with confidential documents, emails, and credentials that are more valuable than the hardware. To safeguard privacy, data must be stored confidentially through encryption and erased securely so it cannot be restored once deleted. This document discusses the commonly used AES encryption algorithm for storage and data erasure methods like physical destruction and overwriting to prevent recovery of confidential information.
