2. Genre.
• For our music video our chosen genre is grime. Grime
originated in the early 2000s in East London. It is a
mixed development of UK garage and jungle
• Names like Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Kano and Lethal
Bizzle were among the first to bring the genre to
mainstream media attention in 2003–2004, with their
albums Boy in da Corner, Treddin' on Thin Ice, Home
Sweet Home and Against All Oddz.
• Dizzee Rascal went on to win the 2003 Mercury Music
Prize Boy in da Corner, which was a major turning
point for grime in terms of it’s attention and
acceptance as a mainstream music genre.
• The ‘stereotypical’ target audience for grime is 14-24
year old UK males, however the bigger names in the
industry such as Skepta have attracted a wider
audience in the US.

3. Concept.
• The concept for our video is performance
and visuals. Grime music videos are
stereotypically the rap artist performing in
close ups or medium close up shots, mixed
with visuals related to the lyrics or the
iconography of the genre.

• The artist we have chosen is AJ Tracey and the Artists name we will be filming is JJ.
• AJ Tracey is has a stereotypical grime artist background; born in North London and
started on the streets, which will be shown in our music video full of street scenes.
• Our song is “Spirit Bomb”.
• As stated previously; The target audience for grime is mainly youths or young
adults/16-24 year old males. Usually from a working class background, they can
relate to the artist, they feel a sense of relief as they are not the only ones going
through these sort of issues or the simply enjoy the flow, beat and aggression.
