Comparison Paragraph Instructions
Topics:
Choose two items to either compare or contrast. Use any one or any combination of prewriting strategies to generate topic ideas. There is also a list of suggested topics in your textbook.
Your paragraph must be at least 200 words.
Plan:
Either choose to show the similarities between two things or the differences. You cannot do both for this assignment. Just write “similarities” or “differences” here.
Attitude/Point:
This should be your attitude toward your two subjects. Do not just write that they are similar or different. What truth or significance can be drawn from the fact that they are similar or different?
Audience:
Be specific in selecting your audience. Who would be interested in hearing this comparison and the point you want to make? Who would benefit from acknowledging the significance of your comparison?
Purpose:
To inform? To entertain? To persuade? Choose one or perhaps a combination of two.
Categories of Comparison:
You must have at least three general categories where your two subjects are similar or different. (Like comparing LU now with LU then based on food service, rules, and dress code)
Topic Sentence:
Combine your topic, your attitude/point into a complete sentence, and your categories of comparison into a sentence. (See sample outlines for a topic sentence example.)
Brainstorm Details:
Brainstorm a list of similarities (or differences) for each of your three categories of comparison.

My Beginning in America
When I joined the American community for my university education, I faced a lot of changes that I partly anticipated but they came in way that in never expected. After commencing studies at the college, it was time to start getting familiar with my neighbors, lecturers, students that we were pursing the same course, and also students within the college pursuing other courses as well. One of the things that I learned was that I had communication challenges since by English accent being a foreigner was entirely different from that of Americans and people from other countries. After few weeks, I had met a few people from my country and the fact that we shared the same accent made it easy for me to interact with them.
When I started my studies in college, I did not speak English very well, some people did not understand me because, I have different accent. The weather was so cold, I could not go anyplace, and I was at home all time. Sometimes I talked very well, and sometimes I did not. My cousin helped me the first week, and I had no American friends. After two months, I begin improving in my English language I got a lot of friends. we decided to start a small group with the overall intention being to play soccer, and volleyball with American students. I like my friends in my college, they helped in a lot of times such as my studies and in my English language.
To support and encourage each other as well as make sure that we attained our goal, I like used a phrase which says “I have two rules in the life, first: l never give up, second: if I give up I return to the first rule.” This phrase means me a lot in my life, when I study or if I have a big challenge. Sometimes when I am close losing in soccer, or volleyball my friends told me you will lose, I was just telling them “I do not give up”. Also, when we want to buy something like a car, house, get a job, or something else, we never give up before we get something we want to. I want to be a big Electrical Engineer after getting better in English language, and I graduated from University I will never give up. That phrase means believing in yourself. It means willingness to accept “failure” so you can learn the critical skill of adaptation. It means not compromising on your most important values, and walking the walk, rather than just talking the talk.
The good thing about this selected phrase is that it can be used in multiple ways by the group. To start with, apart from the phrase encouraging us to come together and face our common weakness, which is English language, it can also be used by the team to handle other situations and challenges that may arise. For instance, being in a foreign country comes with its challenges like financial challenges and social issues. The phrase can be used by members of the group to bring members together during crisis and support the affected person. When one receives support from p.

NOTE: These are the instructions for the entire speech. For this week, you are ONLY claiming the country you wish to present on and locating three research sources, not delivering the speech.
In 5-6 minutes, you should INFORM the audience about the culture of a country, other than the USA. You must do RESEARCH for this speech, utilizing the library's website provided below and known as the "LibGuide." Find at least three academic sources (you may have more than 3) using the libguide provided here.
NOTE: The primary function of this speech is to explore what it would be like to be immersed in another culture, or what you might need to know to live there. Please do not confuse this speech with a book report, highlighting mainly historical information or lists of demographic facts. The majority of your research should focus on the ways of thinking, being, and life in this culture.
REMEMBER: A good informative speech creates information hunger (makes you want to know more!) Don't create a list of facts. Engage your audience with interesting information!
In your speech, you will cover these areas for the three main points of your speech
Point 1
About this Country Examples of information that would go in this point--Geographic location and capital city, Country’s economic status (major world power, developed country or developing country), Population demographics (including major ethnic and racial groups), Political structure (including name of president or leader), Major languages spoken, Transportation systems (how do most people travel?), Entry requirements (Visa or vaccinations required), Currency used and exchange rate for the US, etc. CURRENT EVENTS would be a great feature for this main body point as well.
Point 2
Cultural Aspects Examples--What is the country famous for in terms of art, architecture, dances, etc. What are the most popular places to visit and why? Culinary traditions (any famous dishes or dining habits to note) or major religions, or RECENT CULTURAL EVENTS would be great additions to this main body point.
Point 3
Unique Communication Behaviors Examples: Nonverbal communication (gestures, body language, eye contact patterns, use of space), Family structure (extended families living under one roof, polygyny, etc.), Is this country monochronistic or polychronistic? Individualistic or collectivistic? Have high or low power distance? What are their communication preferences: direct or indirect? (Hint: Review Chapter 3 for this main body point!)
You may leave some of these items out or add in other interesting information that you find. Your speech should have an introduction, be ordered logically and include transitions between main points, utilize diverse and interesting supporting material (see p. 366 of your text), have two verbal citations, a conclusion, a formal outline with two internal references and MLA formatted works cited entries. How to succeed in College
Topic: How to Succeed in College
Introduction – Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven’t planted. – David BlyI never thought that in my forty’s that I would be about to graduate from college, never in a million years would I have dreamed this.
Thesis Statement - I decided to enroll back in college about three months prior to my son was about to graduate from high school, it was my goal to complete what I started many years ago.
I. First Main Point – Personal Reasons
A. It has always in a goal of minds to earn a college degree, so I first decided to go for nursing degree, so I did some research on where to get started with a nursing career.
B. And that led me to become a nursing assistant in a skilled nursing home. I would be able to help take care of people directly. Which I loved to do.
A certified nursing assistant (CNA) provides varying levels of care and support to physically and/or mentally disabled individuals who are unable to care for themselves. CNAs care for patients of all ages in hospitals, inpatient mental health facilities, and clinics. Some certified nurse assistants are employed by a patient’s family and make in-home visits, where they physically care for the patient and provide companionship. Many CNAs are employed at nursing homes and assisted living facilities for the elderly.
These workers fill an important and necessary role in society. Without the help of CNAs, many patients would not receive the physical and mental care they need and deserve. A career as a certified nursing assistant invites both challenges and rewards. As the baby-boomer generation ages, CNAs should be in greater demand; the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the number of these workers to increase by 11% between 2016 and 2026. The median annual CNA salary is around $29,000, and certified nurse assistants employed by the government earn almost $34,000 a year.
C. So I spoke with my adviser on the college campus that I was about to attend for my nursing classes, I wanted to know how to get help with classes that I might struggle in and what was the passing rates with students entering this program.
II. Second Main Point – Financial Reasons
A. I didn’t want to struggle all of my life as I had watched other people around me as teenager, I wanted to be comfortable with a stable career.
B. So after having my son while I was in my last year of high school, I knew that financially I need to make some stable money to take care of the both of us.
C. And I knew that I wanted to travel the world, so this career financially would help me achieve that goal.
III. Third Main Point – Emotional Reasons
A. being able to show my child that life comes with ups and downs but long as you got family an friends there to support you in any way, that you c ...

No. of Pages: 5 pages
Paper Style: APA Paper Type: Research
Taken English? Yes English as Second Language? Yes
Feedback Areas: Topic Development, Transitions & Fluency
Paper Goals: I have to find out how effectively have I written this assignment. And after the
review I have to submit : Identify the top three issues your writing specialist
focused on in your rough draft (e.g., paragraph structure, proper use of quotations,
and thesis statement).
Proofing Summary:
Hi, Riffat,
I’m Kamij, your writing tutor for this assignment. I have reviewed your
submission and have a few suggestions that will help you revise. Please feel
free to contact us through a live chat session with any follow-up questions or for
any clarification.
Below, you will find a revision plan along with margin comments within your
paper. Use my suggestions as a starting point for the revision process. Also,
please note that I have not edited or proofread the entire draft for minor errors,
but rather, focused on overall concerns such as idea development. For a
complete look at your grammar and punctuation, please use the Grammarly
software available under “Writing Center” in your classroom.
For your revisions, I suggest focusing on:
1. Include a thesis statement. Currently, your paper reads like a book report
about foreign policy. A thesis is needed to direct the purpose of the paper. The
thesis statement should include the problem, your proposed solution to that
societal problem, and include the ethical outcomes of the solution. Take a look
at the sample paper for an example of the thesis statement: https://bridgepoint.equella.ecollege.com/curriculum/file/aab540bd-81bd-495c-8ff1-f2bdadbbcff4/1/Sample%20Final%20Paper%20GEN%20499_final.pdf
2. Be sure to cover all material required by the prompt. This prompt is a
complicated one, to be sure. If you carefully break down the prompt, you will see
that it is asking for you to:
a. discuss the problem,
b. propose a solution to the problem,
c. evaluate the validity, reliability, and biases of the sources you used in addition
to pointing out where more research is needed, and
d. show ethical implications of your proposed solution.
3. Develop your paragraphs more. Your paragraphs are presenting information,
but they do not seem to “say” anything. Each paragraph should develop the
argument for your solution to the problem. In general, all paragraphs need to
have 3 pieces:
P-Point—also known as your topic sentence where you state what the paragraph
is about
I-Information—where you present your information (facts, details, quotes, and reasons)
E-Explanation—where you explain the relevance or importance of your information
Please be sure to do all of this when writing your paragraphs. For help with this,

Topic The Importance of Restaurant and Culture General Purpose.docxturveycharlyn
Topic: The Importance of Restaurant and Culture
General Purpose: To Enlighten
Specific Purpose: To enlighten my viewers on various ways on how to keep their bodies health by eating healthy and keeping with the cultural needs (Mack, 2005).
Thesis: Culture and restaurant are some of the key issues in our day to day life that plays a vital part that keeps one healthy and informative. Rebecca L. Spang argues that, “Why are there restaurants? Why would anybody consider eating to be an enjoyable leisure activity or even a serious pastime?” To find the right insights fellow us we explore the reality behind it (Spang, 2001).
A. Introduction
a. Attention Getter: One of the key ways in which an organization can set and strengthens its brand is via culture. The mode upon which a company behaves and the values it portrays speaks volumes as to the kind of strategy and the operations that brings out the brand is a true promise of reality. How many are willing to enjoy a meal at any restaurant or those who are keen to look at the mode of operations and food served in a restaurant before eating? (Civitello, 2008).
B. Reason to listen: Culture is an outstanding and key aspect in the restaurant industry, therefore it enables one to derive various ways to improve livelihood by eating quality food and brands that sustain long life (Fine, 2009).
C. Credibility Declaration:
a. We are so proud of discussing a topic on culture and restaurant, this is because I personally I have been so passionate about it since my early ages and we have proper understanding of its importance (Freedman, 2007).

Competency
Analyze ethical and legal dilemmas that healthcare workers may encounter in the medical field.
Instructions
You have recently been promoted to Health Services Manager at Three Mountains Regional Hospital, a small hospital located in a mid-size city in the Midwest. Three Mountains is a general medical and surgical facility with 400 beds. Last year there were approximately 62,000 emergency visits and 15,000 admissions. More than 6,000 outpatient and 10,000 inpatient surgeries were performed.
An important aspect of the provider/patient relationship pertains to open communication and trust. Patients want to know that their doctors and the support staff associated with their care understand their wishes and will abide by them. Ideally, these conversations happen well before an emergency or procedure takes place; however, often times this information is missing from a patient's file. As part of Three Mountains' initiative to build trust with their patients, an increased emphasis has been placed on obtaining living wills from the patient as part of the intake process to ensure that the healthcare team has written directives of the patient's wishes in case of incapacitation. You will be creating a living will for a patient and provide educational information as to why the patient should fill it out during the admission process before a procedure.
Introduction:
Explain the definition of a living will and its key components. This section will provide an educational overview of the document for the patient.
Living Will Template:
Create a living will that can serve as a template to the patients. This should cover the basic treatment issues such as resuscitation, feeding tubes, ventilation, organ and tissue donations, etc. Provide instructions in the template that can be easily altered, depending on each patient's wishes.
Summary:
In this section, you will discuss the importance of this document and encourage patients to complete it. Address how this document ensures that a patient's wishes are known and followed by the healthcare team.

Paper Title: American Foriegn Policy
No. of Pages: 5 pages

Competences, Learning Theories and MOOCs:
Recent Developments in Lifelong Learning
Karl Steffens
Introduction
We think of our societies as ‘knowledge societies’ in which lifelong learning is
becoming increasingly important. Lifelong learning refers to the idea that people
not only learn in schools and universities, but also in non-formal and informal
ways during their lifespan. The concepts of lifelong learning and lifelong education
began to enter the discourse on educational policies in the late 1960s (Tuijnman
& Boström, 2002). However, these are related, but distinct concepts. As Lee (2014,
p. 472) notes ‘the terminological change (from lifelong education, continuing
education and adult education, to lifelong learning) reflects a conceptual departure
from the idea of organised educational provision to that of a more individualised
pursuit of learning’.
One of the first important documents on lifelong learning was the report of the
International Commission on the Development of Education to UNESCO in
1972, titled ‘Learning to be. The world of education today and tomorrow’. In his
introductory letter to the Director-General of UNESCO, the chairman of the
Commission, Edgar Faure, stated that the work of the Commission was based on
four assumptions (see Elfert pp. and Carneiro pp. in this issue). The first was
related to the idea that there was an international community which was united by
common aspirations and the second was the belief in democracy and in education
as its keystones. The third was ‘that the aim of development is the complete
fulfilment of man, in all the richness of his personality, the complexity of his forms
of expression and his various commitments — as individual, member of a family
and of a community, citizen and producer, inventor of techniques and creative
dreamer’. The last assumption was that ‘only an over-all, lifelong education can
produce the kind of complete man, the need for whom is increasing with the
continually more stringent constraints tearing the individual asunder’ (Faure,
1972, p. vi).
Following the Faure Report, the UNESCO Institute for Education, which
was founded in Germany in 1951, started to focus on lifelong learning and
subsequently became the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL, http://
uil.unesco.org/home/). It was under its leadership that a formal model of lifelong
education was developed and published in the book ‘Towards a System of Life-
long Education’ (Cropley, 1980). The concept of lifelong learning also became
manifest in the ‘Education for All’ (EFA) agenda that was launched at the World
Conference on Education for All which took place in Jomtien (Thailand) in
1990 (Inter-Agency Commission, 1990). Ten years later, at the World Education
Forum in Dakar (Senegal) in 2000, the Dakar Framework for Action was
designed ‘to enable all individuals to realize their right to learn and to fulfil their
responsibility to contribute to the development of their society’ (UNESCO,
2000, p..

Introduction
Base Salary Range
For the position of VP of Operations, the National Average Salary is $122,624. In San Francisco, the average is higher and placed at $155,946. This amount is 16% higher than the National Average (Payscale, 2016). The reason for this increase is because of experience and geography. These are the two prime factors that impact the pay scale. Another major factor is the employer. Most employers base their decision to hire an individual on the experience they bring with them. Of course, with more experience, higher pay is required. With our company cutting cost a less experienced individual would be the best fit for the position.
Standard Employee Benefit
In many cases, your employee benefits could be the turning point for a prospective employee. This benefit is a vital portion of any employee packet. These valuable benefits are used as a blanket of security in the case of any sickness, injury, unemployment, old age, or death (Gomez-Mejia, Balkin & Cardy, 2015, p. 362). There is a significant difference between incentives and benefits: benefits are financial and nonfinancial compensations that are indirect to the employee. To have a competitive strategy Blossoms Up! must align their profits with the compensation package that has been already put in place. This action will help provide flexibility to the amount and the benefits available (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015).
There are also some benefits that most companies are legally obligated to provide. Three benefits are required regardless of the number of employees that the company has. These interests involve social security, workers compensation, and unemployment insurance (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015). Other laws must be adhered to when dealing with a certain number of individuals. When a company has 50 or more employee they must have the Family and Medical Leave Act in place and since its induction in 2015 the Affordable Care Act for Health Insurance for companies with 20 or more employees. For the health insurance to be considered standard medical, vision and dental plans must be made available to the business. These programs that must be regarded as being under the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015).
There are some voluntary benefits that we can include. We are already looking into adding a pension package using the Defined Contribution Plan as well as the 401(K) plan (Gomez-Mejia et al., 2015). Life insurance is another excellent benefit that could be added to the package as well as short-term and long-term disability insurance. Adding Vacation and PTO, and Holiday pay is .

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

FINAL DRAFT
My life after marriage
is a far cry from what it was before I married. As a single
teenager and the daughter of an evangelistic minister, traveling
was a way of life. I packed in less than
thirty
minutes for a journey of a few weeks to a month. I journeyed
all over the United States and some in Canada and Mexico.
Now, I find myself hesitating to leave the house to acquire
groceries. My week usually consists of departing for church,
which is situated across the street. Once upon a time, I knew
tens of thousands of people in all the churches we visited
; meeting new people as we traveled back to these places yearly
. Unfortunately, in my husband’s home town, I have found it
difficult to even make new friends or meet new people. Prior,
traveling meant that I was surrounded by people all the time.
Currently, I spend most of my days alone, seldom leaving my
bedroom except to do chores or spend time with the kids. As a
minister and
minster’s
daughter, I found myself in church several days a week
; ministering in each service to one degree or another
. In my husband’s home church I am seldom asked to minister,
yet I still receive calls from time
-
to
-
time asking me to minister in other churches. I do not like
traveling alone
,
13. so I seldom accept many offers to minister outside my home
church. This change of lifestyle is
the hardest transition of my adult life
; from the life I had to the life I have
.
