En esta ocasión veremos un tema que si no es nuevo es de suma importancia retomar ya que es
esencial conocer todo tipo de estructuras que ayudaran a nuestro inglés a ser un poco más
profesional cada día. El nuevo tema nos permitira realizar comparaciones de cualquier indole y
támbien a elegir al mejor dentro de un grupo.

2. Adjectives /Adverbs of manner
• Adjectives describe nouns
• Adverbs of manner describe how something happens
We form most adverbs of manner by adding -ly to the adjective
quiet-quietly careful – carefully
Adjectives ending in a consonant + y, drop the –y and take -ily
easy – easily
Adjectives ending in –le, drop the –e and take –y

The comparative form
• Of one-syllable adjectives and adverbs and of two-syllable adjectives ending in –y change the –y to –i , while
those ending in -e take only –r

• Of most adjectives and adverbs with two or more syllables is formed with more
Beautiful- more beautiful slowly- more slowly
• Of adjectives or adverbs is followed by than when we compare two people, animals, things, ideas or

4. The superlative form
• of one syllable adjectives and adverbs and two-syllable adjectives ending in -y is formed by adding -est.
(Adjectives ending in -y change the -y to -i, while those ending in -etake only -st.)

• of most adjectives and adverbs with two or more syllables is formed with most.

• of adjectives or adverbs is used with the...(of/in) when we compare one person, animal, thing, idea or
situation with several of the same kind

• Some two-syllable adjectives from comparative and superlative forms of both ways

• Coparatives can be graded by using the words far, much, a lot, a little, a bit, slightly, etc
This car is much more expensive than the one I bought

6. Other forms of comparison
• As + adjective/adverb + as (to show similarity)
She's as tall as her sister
• Not so/as + adjective/adverb + as (to show difference )
It isn't so/as far as we thought
• less /least (to show inferiority)
The film I saw yesterday was less interesting than the one I saw last week
• comparative + and + comparative (to indicate continual increase or decrease)
The car was going faster and faster
8. Este tema como pudiste darte cuenta no es nuevo, ya habiamos visto adjetivos, adverbios para
comparativos y superlativos, en este tema pudiste ver quiza algunas excepciones o algo mas sobre el
tema como un extra, es importante que sepamos diferenciar entre un adjetivo y un adverbio para
que cuando los usemos en una oracion no cometamos errores lo cual es muy comun. Como lo
pudiste checar en la presentación, los adjetivos califican o describen sujetos y los adverbios califican
o describen a los verbos o acciones ambos son utilizados en los comparativos y los superlativos,
recordemos que los comparativos nos sirven para destacar uno del otro es decir que estan
inmiscuidos dos sujetos animales u objetos y los superlativos se trata de elegir al numero uno del
grupo, es decir al mas... la diferencia gramatical la encontraraemos en las terminaciones de los
adjetivos ya sean cortos o largos de acuerdo al numero de silabas que estos contengan.
Esperamos que este repaso no haya sido dificil pues lo esperado es que se aclaren dudas pues como
ya lo mencionamos anteriormenete no es un tema que estemos viendo por primera vez
