2. What is a “Comparative”?
We use comparatives to talk about two things.
Fast –er
His car is Faster than mine.

3. Comparative Form?
How is a comparative form built?
Usually we use Than after the adjective.
One syllable adjectives – add er at the end.
Long – Longer
*If the adjective ends with CVC (Consonant+ Vogal+
Consonant) we double the last consonant.
Hot - Hotter
Two syllables adjective ending with y – add ier at the end
Funny - Funnier
Other two or three syllables - add More before the adjective
More Modern, More Beautiful

We use superlatives to talk about the difference
between three or more people, animals or
things

How is a superlative form built?
We always use The before the adjective
One syllable adjectives – add est at the end.
Long – The Longest
