Why choose motivate | today financial wellness solutions?
There are a few important considerations when selecting a financial wellness provider. Here are a few critical factors
to consider;
1. Independence
There are many financial wellness service providers on the market. However, there are very few service providers
that are focused on the financial wellness education aspect in its pure form. Many service providers have latched on
to financial wellness education as a means to brand build and distribute product. There are many service providers
that offer “free” financial wellness workshops. There is no free lunch. The people that end up paying for the free
workshop are the very people that attend the workshop as post the workshop they are then exposed to call centre
agents trying to flog products.
motivate | today is a professional, independent financial wellness company that focuses on the educational aspect
first where the aim is to educate people about their financial choices – not to use the opportunity to push product.
2. Measure and Sustainability
Many of the financial wellness programs that are on the market are of short duration and one offs. As many of the
programs are “free” this stands to reason. No service provider will provide a free service for any duration of time
longer than a one off. The material that supports the free workshop program is generally of limited content as
producing detailed and thorough content is expensive. Once again no free program will support a detailed piece of
literature. The content will be thin as will be the engagement.
This “wham-bam” touch and go free engagement approach is not sustainable, is not measurable and does not bring
about lasting and true financial change. It is all very well going the quick and easy “for free” route but what change
will you bring about? No change. A workplace based financial wellness program must be measurable and
sustainable. There needs to be change and there needs to be improvement otherwise there is no point.
3. Implementation and Flexibility
Many of the financial wellness programs that are available are limited in their application, rigid and inflexible. As
many of the programs are free there is limited flexibility and very little ability for these types of programs to meet
any flexible implementation criteria that a client may have.
The approach of many financial wellness programs is “off the shelf” and standard. The same content and
presentation to fit all needs; this “one size fits all” approach does not make sense as we have different learning
levels, different levels of literacy and different levels of money skills and awareness.
Certain employers because of the nature of their business may require different methods of implementation from
full day workshops, to half day workshops and even to a “module per month” approach over longer periods of time.
Our financial wellness workshop programs are modular and are designed to meet the specific needs of the employer
and the employees. We have also adapted the content and presentation to suit different learning and literacy needs.
This way we are able to meet the needs of the client as opposed to dictating the implementation terms.
