Discovering the World in Your Own Backyard:  Mapping and Using Community Assets   Asia Society Conference 2008

Time for Action! Research to see if other middle/high schools have already done this – is there a best-practice model? Funding – develop a specific plan ideally in collaboration with a  community business leader and students (great way for students to learn business concepts/terminology) Physical space in the school/collaboration with facilities team Promotional materials from travel organizations and travel books donation-drive  Desired launch date – September 2010 Recruit students, parent(s), administrator, community  member(s), and faculty member(s) to form planning committee (Aug. 09) Develop a strategic plan as a committee (Oct. 09) Present plan to faculty and then in an all-school meeting (end of Oct. 09) Develop and maintain an in-school travel resource center Example: Provide students with information on travel opportunities and the necessary support system to plan international trips of their own SUPPORT/RESOURCES (What help do you need?) TIMELINE ACTION (Action/Strategy) GOAL
