Listen- (verb) to give ones attention to a
sound or source of sound
Hear- (verb) to perceive with the ear the
sound made by (someone or something)
Are you truly listening or just hearing?
4. Active Listening
• Be prepared
• Maintain a positive attitude
• Be intentional about paying attention
• Be flexible
• Ask. Clarifying. Questions.
• Remember, listening is looking for both verbal and
non-verbal clues!

• Re-phrase and re-state what has been said to you,
to confirm what you have understood
• Be aware- your body language may signal
disinterest or distraction
• Be fully committed to the interaction

Email
• Review the syllabus or assignment directions before you begin your
email
• Use your UA catmail account
• Always include your full name and student ID number
• Include your course title and section number
• Be respectful
• Be concise and clear with your question or request
• Proofread before you send the email
• Be patient, it may take at least 24 hours before you get a response

I dropped the ATMO class and math i
have no idea,Ii might take it at home
over the summer but not sure yet. Also
i been trying to get into american sigh
language since even before i started
the school. Also will there be any open
classes in july? because if there isn't
any I'm at 6 credits which doesn't even
make me full time student which also
mean i could not be in my sorority. I
just really don know what to do and
I'm undecided so i cant start taking
other kind of classes besides GE
classes.
