Commercial Spots
"commercial" is usually restricted to TV and radio whereas advertisements can be found in magazines/newspapers,
on billboards in public places as well as on TV , radio and the Internet nowadays.
 Non-paid message either a program advisory or info-
development information. It is either produced by the
station or by other outfit organization.
PLUG
 Time allotted for airing commercials, program plugs
and info-development plugs.
 Types of Commercial Break:
 Commercial Gap - time for commercial within a
program
 Break Spot - time between after the end of a
program and the next program.
 Duration of comgap:
 Metro Manila - 18 mins/hour
 Provinces - 20 mins/hour
Commercial Break
 The very brief, yet visually complex, program material
separating a show from a commercial gap or other
program segments.
Bumpers
 Announcement-On-Board - live mention of an
announcement or sponsorship.

 Live mention of an acknowledgment, especially minor
sponsors (make-up artists, etc.)
Live Credits
 Found at the end of the program (TV) which details
the production staff, sponsors, and other
people/groups behind the success of a production.
Closing Credits
 Refers to a period-- three or more seconds of
“unnecessary” silence.
Dead Air
 ad libitum - speech or action that has not been
scripted or specifically rehearsed.
Ad Lib
 Music or sound effects -- used to stress a statement
 Voice
 Laughter

 Influences our moods and experiences.
