Operaciones matemáticas básicas y cifras significativasRuthRodrguez27
The document discusses how to perform basic mathematical operations while taking into account significant figures. It provides examples of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. For addition and subtraction, quantities must be rounded to the least number of decimal places before operations are performed. For multiplication, division, powers and roots, the operation is first calculated and then rounded to the least number of significant figures of the quantities. Following the operations accurately yields results with the appropriate level of precision.
This document provides a summary and examples of different methods for estimating and rounding numbers, including rounding to place values, front-end estimation, and clustering. It also covers calculating the mean, median, and mode of data sets, using formulas, and estimating products and quotients of decimals. Students are assigned problems reviewing these concepts from pages 164-165.

How can you tell when he is going faster if you compute miles per minute? How can you tell when he is going faster if you compute minutes per mile? What computation did you perform to find how long it would take you to travel the 28 miles Sascha traveled if you are going 13 mph? Why? What strategy did you use to find a steady rate that would tie Sascha? How can you match the parts of the trip to the conditions of the path? Explain.
