Archaeology is the study of human history and prehistory through excavating sites and analyzing artifacts. There is no single path to becoming an archaeologist. Many obtain degrees in archaeology or related fields and may pursue graduate degrees. Archaeologists excavate sites carefully using specialized tools to uncover artifacts and remains. The study of Earth and Space Sciences focuses on developing students’ understandings of their place both within the broader universe and at a much closer level developing their understanding of geological processes and the weather and environment on Earth. We will continue our exploration of models to support understanding and provide examples of how to use digital technology in our science lessons.

The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.

As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

4. Many archaeologists first go to a college or
university to get a degree in Archaeology or
something similar to it. There are many fields an
archaeologist can enter, like Forensic
Archaeology or Egyptology. Schools such as
Cornell University and University of California-
Berkeley offer fine degrees for a young student.

and notable Archaeologists out there.
5. After receiving a degree, a
young archaeologist may try to
get an apprenticeship or job
for an archaeologist in the field
they desire. Many might also
continue their schooling to get
a PhD. An archaeologist with a
PhD has a better chance of
working for a university than
the ones without, although
there isn't much competition in
this field because there are so
many types of archaeologists
out there.
6. Excavation
Part of the job of an archaeologist is excavation,
where artifacts and bones are carefully dug up.
Archaeologists will work at a site with a director,
who decides how much land to dig up. They use
specialized tools to carefully unearth what has
been hidden for many centuries. The freshly
dug up artifacts are then moved to labs, where
other archaeologists determine the ages and
lives of the items.
7. Higher level archaeologists are usually required
to have their masters degrees. Archaeologists
can expect to study in school for seven to ten
years, along with training, before they are full
time employees. Archaeologists are also
required to have strong communication skills
because they often work closely with biologists,
geologists, environmental groups, and other
scientists that study humans and the world.

On average, there
are about 42 percent
of women
archaeologists and
58 percent of men.
Women on average
make more at
58,900 annually (56,
064 is the highest
for men).
10. Archaeologists are usually payed $ 27,057 to
$70,260 annually. The average amount they are
payed is $44, 970 a year. Most archaeologists
who get degrees in Masters of Arts-Anthropology
are payed $34, 476 to $79,892 annually, while
those with a Bachelor of Arts-Anthropology get
payed $28,188 to $69, 531 annually. Those who
just have a bachelor's degree earn about $32,000
to $45, 000 annually.

five to nine weeks will usually get one and a half
weeks of time off. Someone with 10 to 19 will usually
get one to two weeks, and someone with 20 or more
years of experience on the job, will get only about two
weeks off for vacation. Archaeologists usually do get
good health benefits that include medical and dental
insurance.

13. Tools
Archaeologists use numerous tools like shovels,
trowels, and cameras while working. They use
tools called soil cores, which are small metal
tubes with a handle at the top that are used for
probing specific areas in the soil in search of
buried artifacts or features. The soil core is
pushed into the ground using their body weight,
then pulls it back out to inspect the soil within it
to see if artifacts or a significant soil change is
present, then that area may be a good prospect
for excavation.
14. Tongue depressors can also be used to clean artifacts in
their tight corners and crevices. Line levels and plumb
bobs are primarily used in mapping features and
excavation units. They also use line levels, which are
attached to little strings that are used to outline the units
with another diagonal string in order to be able to better
measure the depth of each level. This also helps
measure any artifacts that may be found.
