CODES + CONVENTIONS
   of opening sequences
In film openings there will always be a production logo
and a distribution logo of the major companies which
are involved with the making of that film
These logos will sometimes be edited in order to relate to
the story line of the film depending on the budget.

For example, in Harry Potter the Warner Bros logo is made
to look all dark and grey like bad weather which could
include lightning which would reflect the story line as lots of
spells are cast. These spells always look like a bolt of
lightning.
• The opening shot of a film can either be an
establishing shot or a blank screen with titles on.
• These will include the most important members
involved with the film including directors and
actors. The credits will either be on a blank
screen or sometimes on top of action in the film.
• Opening credits include:
  director, producer, executive producer, film
stars, film title, costume designer, screenplay
  writer, editor and many more.
• There may be music playing over the top or in
the background but some directors choose not
  to use any additional sound.
• Title screens can also be a way of enticing the
audience to make them want to continue
  watching.
• Can build suspense and allow the audience to
identify the genre of the film.
